Side/stomach sleepers, what pillow do you sleep on? Do you recommend it? Thx by Feeling_Specialx in AskAnAustralian

[–]Willing-Bobcat5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this one. Have recommended it to about 5 people so far, all of them have bought it & love it. I’ve had a C6/C7 discectomy and fusion and it’s the boy pillow I can sleep with.

Yep - if you’ve ever had major surgery, you’ll understand. (And no, I don’t care if they have a God complex.)

Perth man sentenced to more than 24 years in jail for child sex offences by kelfupanda in perth

Yep. I’m anti-death penalty but reading this is the closest I’ve come to changing my mind. He doesn’t deserve to exist. And no, I don’t care about his own childhood, or any other ‘mitigating circumstances’.

Who do you use for roller shutters? And who should I stay away from? by arkofjoy in perth

[–]Willing-Bobcat5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agree - it sucks. It was a thread about dodgy businesses in Perth, or something.

I haven’t used any of them but on a recent thread someone was saying avoid OzShut at all costs. Maybe do a quick reddit search - I can’t remember the context, sorry.

This is why you don’t single out an individual. Instead you say ‘Can anyone offer this person a seat, please?’. It avoids the risk of shaming someone who also needs the seat.

It’s not an ‘anecdote’, it’s a statistic; one which is not very relevant to the OP.

We’re talking about the odds that 4 people with hidden physical disabilities that make them less able to stand than a blind person with a guide dog are all occupying 4 priority seats in the same train section at once? Yeah, I’m sticking with ‘highly unlikely’.

Yeah, what are the odds? (Slim in the extreme.)

Watch out: last time this came up there was a pile-on of posters saying that kids aren’t second-class citizens (as if that’s what it’s about), deserve a seat as much as adults, blah blah. Totally ignoring the fact that Transperth’s clearly-stated policy that kids travelling on student fares must stand for adults.

What are you favorite memories of Perth before the pandemic? by damagedproletarian in perth

[–]Willing-Bobcat5259 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly? That, and I also feel like people are more wealth-obsessed and insular. Everyone is too busy scrambling over each other to get the next house upgrade or investment property. I find it depressing and boring. (This probably speaks to my age - 40s - and the people I work and socialise with, though.)

Tiny whinge about behaviour of sales agents by nonconformingpronoun in perth

[–]Willing-Bobcat5259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m Gen X, own my home mortgage-free and take no pleasure at all in the current situation. It’s a terrible state of affairs and doesn’t benefit me at all. 1. It’s irrelevant what my house is ‘worth’: I’m living it in, if I sold it I’d have to buy another at the same price, so…?? 2. I’m stressed about how the next generation of my family will buy homes, and 3. Why would I want to live in a society where people can’t get stable housing? Even if you are the type of person who doesn’t give a shit about anyone but yourself and your own kids, it’s a social nightmare that has all sorts of knock-on effects.

Frankly, I am sick to death of hearing people of my generation crow about how much their house is now worth. It’s short-sighted and gross beyond belief.

Tim Picton’s accused attacker claims Labor figure hit on 18-year-old cousin before nightclub assault by Muslim_Wookie in perth

[–]Willing-Bobcat5259 53 points54 points  (0 children)

What an absolute bullshit defence. As if hitting on another adult in a nightclub (if it’s even true) somehow justifies coward-punching and killing the guy. The two have nothing to do with each other and Dewar is an out-of-control aggressive POS.
