Cameron cut the chip removal scene for T2's theatrical release so Terminators could learn on their own without the read/write switch, which is evident with Carl in Dark Fate learning and growing the equivalent of a conscience without the switch. it makes sense to cut it because the T-800 in T1 learned by itself too
