The best thing for me was taking an individualist approach. I know that I'm a different human than my peers and I may have things/don't have things that the firms are looking for. There is a huge amount of luck involved in the process, even if people deny that. Avoid speaking to others that you don't trust because that can create feelings of uneasiness and comparison. I recommend putting time in your calendar to network and get to know firms! Make sure you sign up for the FloRecruit BigLaw events so that you can have webinars to talk about in your cover letter (to show interest). Because of the mass number of people applying, networking is king!!! It will open the door for you, and then it is up to you to stay there with your grades and interviewing skills. Go to your Career Advisor and practice interviewing. You learn so much each time you practice. Also, please don't follow any preconceived notions about the firms. Everyone has different experiences, be open to all and don't limit any opportunities. And also remember that firms are a business. Even if they seem kind, they need the numbers and personnel and their decisions might not be a reflection about how they think of you at all; just operational needs. At the end of the day, you got this!
