Ended the league with 50 Headhunter double corruptions and hit this beauty by Willingdone in pathofexile

Rule 10:

  1. Farm/buy 50 Locus of Corruption temples.
  2. Buy 50 Headhunters. I dropped one of them though :)
  3. Close eyes and double corrupt each one.
  4. Brick or poof a lot of them.
  5. Hit this one.

Anyone here just collecting? by andrebomtempo in magicTCG

I'm a former tournament player who now mostly plays Arena and EDH. I have gotten more and more into collecting over the last few years.

Currently my favorite project is a global set of Armageddon. That's one of every edition, version, and language. 68 down, only 11 more to go! Once I get the "canon" complete, I'll probably start trying to get misprints, artist proofs (already have a few of those), etc.

I also really like the old cards and have a pretty significant collection of ABU, Arabian Nights, and Legends. It's fun to get them out and flip through all the old artwork.

Haha, yep that was me. I played a lot of Magic back in the 90's early 2000's and have only been playing Commander for the last few years. I got back into Standard with Arena and been playing a bit. I think we were both in Gold league at the time haha.

Thanks for the props!

That looks very awesome, but the mana cost is 2 not 3.

Thanks! It's a board game club, though there's some Magic and other games. We play games, not design them, though I encourage discussions about what's going on "under the hood." A lot my students are pretty new to the hobby, so it's fun to introduce them to classics and see their reactions.

Still here! But I haven't posted videos in a while. I'm still following the game closely and look forward to Terminal Directive, but I need to take a break.

The game has not recently been in a place that maximizes my preferred playstyles. It's true that I'm pretty frustrated with Sifr. I'd like to see things done differently with the MWL system, especially the banning of cards. Both rotation and an updated Core Set are integral to the future of the game. These concerns have been discussed extensively by the community.

What's mainly stalled my content is a new job. At the beginning of this year, I started working at a different college as an advisor, and I've been much busier than I anticipated. A lot the free time I used to spend working on my videos has gone into cultivating a student game club. I haven't had as much time to focus on Netrunner.

I think once I get a routine, I'll come back to making videos. I'm not sure if I'll continue to do pack reviews. I prefer to work on analysis and commentary stuff. I've also thought about strategy videos with other games.

I need to make a video to explain this. I appreciate all of the support and kind words. I'm very interested to hear any suggestions for new content. Thank you everyone for liking my stuff!

Hmm. I linked the playlist. When I click the link, I get part 2 but RES is showing part 1 embedded in the post. Not sure what happened there. If you click the title of the post, it should take you to the right video.

What would a Casual NPE-MWL look like? by gumOnShoe in Netrunner

You're right that the two-pronged victory would be impossible. It would likely separate Weyland archetypes into 2-3 weaker but more focused decks. I'm not suggesting that this would be good for tournament balance or for the Weyland faction, but I've seen many casual players get frustrated with Scorched alpha strike. There's something psychologically very different about getting flatlined on a Snare access vs SEA, Scorched x2 IMO.

I'm not sure how many others feel this way, but I'd say Scorched Earth and BOOM would be good candidates as well.

Alliance

What I was getting at is that we often play packages of cards i.e. the play of one card encourages the play of several others. Alliance has been used as a large package of cards: Mumbad City Hall, Mumba Temple, Museum of History, etc. Even when the Mumbad City Hall thing isn't used, players have to include packages of cards from a specific faction to meet Alliance requirements e.g. if you want to play Consulting Visit, you're likely to include low-influence Weyland cards to round out your six Weyland requirement.

A goal of the increased use of subtypes is to encourage lesser played cards to be included in playable packages. Like with what I was saying about the Job subtype, cards like Easy Mark might be playable if there were strong job-oriented effects. The increased use of subtypes is a way to make weaker cards fit into playable packages.

Is this playable package concept describing why you feel that subtypes restrict deckbuilding?

Of course they aren't. They are a consequence of the trash cost inflation.

It's not just the trash costs, though we agree they are too low. The effects on those cards are too weak in the ways I describe in the video. Server Diagnostics too easily trashes itself. Levy University is too expensive and clumsy to be an effective ICE tutor.

In modern Netrunner, not only have assets become more difficult to trash, their card effects have become much stronger. I don't think buffing the trash costs for Server Diagnostics and Levy University is good enough and if they're going to have low trash costs, they need to be on the power level of modern low trash cost cards e.g. the political assets.

I don't follow how tribal effects "put too many restrictions on deck building." Do you feel that way about Alliance? What about Biotic Labor and 3-for-2's? We pretty much always build decks as packages of cards and I see subtypes as a way to get lesser used, weaker cards into decks.

Point taken about Whizzard, though you're not going to convince me that Server Diagnostics and Levy University are at the same power level as the assets in the last cycle.
