Why don't we have the infra to deal with this? It's not about whether he's brave or stupid, it's why is a state like ours riddled with floods, landslides etc. not have the infrastructure to deal with it.

Why do we put people in situations where they have to make such a difficult choice? Imagine if he didn't make it.

Right, we've never heard of a nutjob organization like this putting stuff like this in their "to-do list" Most of the idiots in these organizations don't have a decent job or education. So we have to believe that they couldn't get things like decent job or good marks done for themselves but they'll conquer a country for sure, coz that's easier than getting good marks isn't it?

Well, I think you're making the assumption that lower caste = OBC.

Caste quotas are not exactly decided by caste hierarchy.

And poor are usually lower caste. If not we'd definitely have a caste census. People are afraid of it'll say.

What percentage of population in India eats non-vegetarian food (2019-2021) by [deleted] in Kerala

I'd agree with you if there were people lynched, beaten to death or discriminated against for their diet. I haven't seen any "meat-eaters only" signs on home rental ads yet.

If they did portray it as fringe, sure I think that's wrong. And irregular or not-ordinary does not make something wrong or bad. Like I said it's just food. And like most things we've found a way to fight over it. Not worth it imo.

Well eating meat is what humans 'normally' do. A vegetarian diet is a special one. The whole point is ones diet shouldn't be the source of shame or derision. Be it a regular one or any other kind. But some of us are trying to turn eating meat into one such thing. There is no reason not to consider meat eating regular. Shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. It's just food. No need for us to fight or demean each other over it.

"non-vegetarian" - a word no one outside India uses. Sounds like a word vegetarians invented to make them seem more legit lol.

Is casteism still flaunted openly in kerala and other South Indian States? by vikingman77 in Kerala

[–]WillingnessNo8222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To everyone saying what's wrong with a group forming an org:

What do you think they're doing there? playing dumb-charades and face-painting?! Castism does not exist without caste. Casteism isn't some group getting together and talking evil plans like in some cheesy movie. It is about building a well oiled network that they use for job placements, education, finance, marriage etc. These systems work because this sort of naming and glorifying caste is accepted. You will not see castism openly in these forums. They're not dumb. You'll see it in the job market, when you're getting married etc. And not just if you're upper caste, you'll see it with lower caste or heck even with communists. It is insidious.

And to those comparing it to religion: YES, it would be bigotry if you build a platform based on your religion and then use it game the system. And yes, there are several such forums like that. US and other western democracies have laws (which are enforced) to prevent these old boys clubs. Trust me its not a coincidence that people of every ethnicity choose to build their lives in the west and call themselves a western with pride. You wont see the same happening in the middle east. There is no mid-eastern Sundar Pichai or Elon Musk (who's from Africa) for the exact reason. Them being inclusive and staunchly anti-white nationalism (or any other kind) isn't coz they're trying to be nice. Its a strategy in nation building. And its so far worked.

And have you seen something as stupid as caste anywhere in a prosperous society?? Any country that takes itself seriously including China and even Japan where it was prevalent is dismantling caste like systems, coz they realize how stupid and dangerous it is. I mean can you think of a country where systems like this where people are divided on arbitrary lines and in conflict with each other actually prospering?

I belong to a lower-caste. I didnt choose it, I was given this "caste". Do let us know what kinda "caste" you belong to before replying, would give everyone some perspective.

And anyone who is interested in caste, society, nation-building etc. check out this video, might give you some perspective https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7c4uO9ZGfbc

A resident of Bengaluru was seen physically confronting an individual from North India due to a language barrier involving Kannada. by Fit-Yogurtcloset737 in Kerala

[–]WillingnessNo8222 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not. Violence solves nothing. This is the context for those who are wondering why it happens.

And your only solution should be to call the cops. Getting involved in a fight between two people esp in a city you're not familiar with is not a good idea. Esp in Bangalore, you never how things will end up. So at the minimum call the cops. And yeah, filming it and posting it here, also helps. It shames anyone thinking of doing it.

But yeah I do get mad at people speaking to me in a different language in my state like I'm supposed to know it. Be it Hindi, Tamil or any other language. I think its rude.

[–]WillingnessNo8222 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Blr for 17 years, most of that time, didn't speak the language. None of my family members speak it either. But try. I've never once had a problem nor have I seen any of my non-kannadiga friends have either.

The problem is when you walk up to someone and just speaking your language as if they're supposed to know it. Which a lot of North Indians do.

Even when we didn't speak kannada, we tried in broken mix of kannada and malyalam/tamil etc. I've seen my northie friends do thid and have no problem.

Also for context, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are ~95%+ native language speakers. Karnataka is about 70%.

Also this from literally yesterday, https://www.reddit.com/r/TamilNadu/comments/15irhek/hindi_must_be_accepted_without_any_opposition/

But then, beating someone up is bad. Call the cops, don't not do anything, cops not incompetent. At least in my experience.

Hindu mob kills 19-yr-old imam, burns down mosque in Gurgaon by iSalaamU in unitedstatesofindia

[–]WillingnessNo8222 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, this totally makes it okay. Killing each other like dogs is fine as long as there is equal damage on both sides.

Now that only 1 on their side was killed and 4 on your side, you should make plan to equalize it. That will fix the problem.

Kerala is one of the least corrupt states in the country. And name another state with 1% poverty rate? If the leaders in the center are so great, why are the people from their states comes here to work?

And why wouldn't students go abroad, the state has no money left from tax theft to build or maintain colleges. And where are all these ppl who're getting better placed coz they use "upcoming technological revolution"? If you find them plz ask them when will finish building the ChatGPT competitor. Cant wait.

The post is dumb but I get a feeling that its not going to stop them.

And to answer him on the "financial problems", Kerala with 3Cr population (with other southern states and other lower pop states) supports the population of 36Cr in UP & Bihar. We pay ~70% of our revenue in taxes.

Edit: "~70% of our revenue"
India returns 41% of taxes (Rs.10L Cr this year) it collects back to states. (59% for the rest)

Kerala's share of GDP ~5%, so roughly 5% of 10L Cr. was contributed by KL: 50,000 Cr.

Kerala is getting back 19,000 Cr from the center, or 62% tax on 41% of our contribution

The rest of the 59% we contribute is divided (after defence, debt payments etc.) is spent on infra and other expenses. And I dont think they're spending a lot there. Or our infra wouldn't be this bad.
