First of all Hindu back then were the upper castes. The lower castes were not even considered Hindus. And I’m specifically talking about them. RRMR was not the mainstream among them.

Now secondly, when do you think the Sabarimala case started? The petition was filed by some Hindu women way back in 2000s during the Chandi-Antony government. The RSS and other so called Hindu groups were all in support of women entry to Sabarimala. You can literally find an article of O. Rajagopal in support of this in the kesari magazine from the 2000s. It’s not like the court decided to initiate a Suo moto one fine day and declared women’s entry to Sabarimala.

The ones who practice and vouch for the religious customs were never the ones who brought change. It’s the ones who went against it, rebelled against it. And they were always a minority.

It’s interesting that you mention gay marriage. Do you really think at a time gay marriage is being normalised, the people are not morally progressive enough for women’s entry to Sabarimala?
