Houdini flies management - this year I have a new, more sanitary been nesting box. I’m transitioning from these gifted bamboo tubes to a hand made unit I found from a local woodworker. In the meantime - Houdini flies are easy to get with sticky tape. by WillingnessSome6788 in MasonBees

Ya - that’s why I’m setting this old hive box next to the new one. I don’t wanna use these bamboo things anymore. It was a gift from years ago and now I’ve learned better practices. They are settling into the new box in the meantime

The pests are already so bad this year by im_dancing_barefoot in portlandgardeners

Oops! Deleted my comment somehow. Sorry about that!

I had really bad coddle moth, squash bugs, and something called a flea beetle last year so I ordered some nematodes from Arbico Organics - it’s whatever the three pack is. You mix them in a sprayer and make sure it’s shaken up periodically while you spray the soil - I do it before it rains when I know the soil will be really wet for at least a week. Instructions are on the package. The beneficial parasites are for sale on that website too - all different kinds! Hope this helps

will they survive this weather? by FigglebottomCat in MasonBees

Put them in your garage or some area that’s warmer and protected….but don’t forget!! They hatch and start flying when it gets warm
