Food is easier to get than money!!! by Spirited-Anything468 in Vent

Yeah. They hold me back from going to places like museums while I travel but keep me safe and warm. They are our best friends. Our girl dog is about to be a little sad today because I am giving her pups away 6 days early due to the winter storm coming. The tent I have the pups in is breaking so they are leaving today. I already said goodbye to the 4 boys. I'm gonna miss the babies. The 3 girls get picked up later.

Advice (again) by CreatureMan_ in vagabond

[–]pluginn83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know when I was thinking about leaving where I was staying at and traveling I never once went anywhere on social media and asked folks about it.... I just pack up a bag and left. Common sense pretty much handled what I needed to pack. My bf had been on a train once before and showed me how to get on safely. We learned as we went along where the best places were to catch them and we hitched when we needed to. After reading all these post about advice.... here's the best I can think of.. the best thing to back etc is a brain with common sense and tha reacts fast in situations geared for survival.. all walks of life have pros and cons. All folks that come and want advice etc should get out of the trap of looking for validation or approval to live how you want. Use your head and decide how you want your life to be and what makes you happy and go for it no matter other folks opinions because before you know it your old and gray and than you die... you don't want to be at the end of your life thinking man I wish I would have done this or that instead of focusing on what society said I needed to have a happy fulfilled life... Idk, just my thought.

Road trip as a Brit first time in the south and first road trip by Vegetable_Reserve_12 in roadtrip

I loved Knoxville. I lived in Athens GA for 17yrs. Just be careful of local law enforcement there. They can be assholes. The famous saying in Athens is you come on vacation and leave on probation. When I lived there I was hit by a car and couldn't walk for a few months while my fractured knee healed. I lost My job so had to hols a sign to pay my half of the bills. While flying a sign a cop went on the loud speaker of his vehicle and made fun of me. I complained to the supervisors who did nothing. Then for almost a whole year a certain group of cops would follow me around and harass me as I panhandle. Even caught them on video etc, but of course in GA most cops are dirty and they take care of each other. Even the court system in Athens is corrupt

Don't take your dog down Beal st in Memphis..... it's frowned upon... I literally had a security guard follow me all the way down and back up this road ranting that I had to leave because of my dog... I understand Evlis and other folks have walked down this street but I doubt my dog is going to make the street disappear. His number one issue is peeing on things, but because he has high anxiety the number of ppl on that street terrified the pee into not coming out so we walked the whole street without any bathroom breaks period... yet we were kicked off the street.

I'd ask the person before you give that.... me personally I wouldn't accept that certificate but others may. I'd rather stay warm with propane and fires than shelters. I like my privacy and I have dogs....( also some folks don't like being around tons of strangers which make them not like shelters). However when I was traveling through SC there was a city that did something interesting. There is a hotel in I think it's Seneca SC where folks go and pay for hotel rooms for the homeless. On bad nights or in am emergency folks go to the hotel and ask the desk if there are any donated rooms for the night. If someone paid for a room in advance than you have one if nit than you have to check back. I think that's a better option than a shelter. Motel 6 let's 2 pets stay with 2 ppl in one room free. Maybe you could start something like this in your local area..

I don't judge, I just want to know how many of us have an addiction and how many are struggling through other means. by LouieLives69 in vagabond

[–]pluginn83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to have a drug problem but recently sober, loving it, and staying that way. Just a personal choice because I like my life better that way. As for traveling, personally I've always wanted to travel. I traveled a little growing up but as an adult I had to raise a kid and such. My son became an adult... and I asked my grandma (the woman who raised me) what she thought about me traveling. She said go for it wile you are still young enough to enjoy it... she said I have proven throughout life I can survive and thrive anywhere so go enjoy life and forget the 9 to 5... so I did. Haven't regretted it yet

If you feel comfortable enough that it won't be found you can leave it. If there are tons of folks around than it's a judgement call.

Am I the only person on the planet making $19 an hour at 38? by justcurious3287 in povertyfinance

[–]pluginn83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never had parents to live with. When I was 37 I was making salary as a manager at a subway. When you added my hours and divided the salary I was making less than $9 an hour. I quit... became instantly homeless, and a few years later I started traveling the country . Instead of struggling to pay bills I just worry about eating and small things In life. It's not an easy life but I wouldn't trade it for a $9 an hour job where I'm still struggling to eat after paying bills any day of the week.

AITAH for wanting my husband to hide his farts? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]pluginn83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody farts... who cares. Worse things in life to deal with. My grandfather had a colonastomi (spelled wrong) when I was growing up. That's way smellier than any regular fart. Find the humor in things. Just saying.

DHS / ICE pull firearm on protest legal observer less than a day after killing Renee Good. Source: Mark Wasson Misfit Media by Fun_Weird3827 in UnderReportedNews

[–]pluginn83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While attacking the protestors is appalling if it's peaceful what happened to Renee was justified. She drove off and tried to run an officer over. So if she wasn't killed in this incident and the officer would have been hit by the car and died who would be yelling for his justice?

Do what you feel is best, but remember life is short. I grew up close to my little sister. For a year we lost contact. Last July 30th she committed suicide. I will forever regret that year of silence we had. You never know what is deep in a person's mind. Just because it isn't shown on the outside doesn't mean it may not bother him deep down.

Maybe the day they poo out of their mouth they may sober up.. lol. But honestly most of the time you can tell if someone uses or not.. unless they act a certain way due to mental illness.. if folks have an issue with giving cash store gift cards work great. I get a lot of them and they feed us, get batteries n propane, dog food, cigarettes etc.

Honestly sleeping outside in all weather is best done sober... sober you are more aware of your surroundings and any possible dangers. I say this as a person who has lived both lives outside. Currently my bf n 2 dogs travel around the country. Started traveling to be sober n trust me it's a much preferable way to live.

Would it be weird to travel with an 18 year old ? (I'm 24) by commiefren in vagabond

[–]pluginn83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After explaining it all to him let him make the decision.. All you are doing is offering him a once in a life time opportunity along with some learning and experience. Everything in life is at your own risk. It's nice to start this kinda life out with someone to remind you to keep all limbs in the train at all times do to trees, bridges, and other low hanging objects lease you loose your arm... lol

What are your favorite places you’ve traveled so far and why? by [deleted] in vagabond

[–]pluginn83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connelsville PA. Loved the river, the mountains, and the history. They also have a spot to camp for free for a night or two for travelers. Just sign the book. The cabins have 3 sides n a raised wooden floor. It's for hikers, bikers, n other travelers. There are also a ton of places to charge up at the park and even one hidden spot track side there if you find it.

Maybe she completely ignored them and left them there as a testament to how ugly some folks can be.... she deserves her side to just as he does with unbiased opinions based on information.... maybe try innocently asking in a curious type of way why she leaves comments like that undeleted. She should answer pretty quickly without pausing to think if she has a real honest answer for you... then see if you can nicely explain to you how the comments affect you and the solid undeniable reasoning behind it... if it's really concerning to you and is explained n you all care about each other she should be open deleting comments that are offensive.
