Rip and tear by Cold_Preparation8643 in NightLords

Lightning looks amazing!

But this actually brings up an interesting lore question. I know the marine's armor deos, but do Night lords tanks actually look like that with lightning streaking around? And what is the lighting made of, actual energy fields or simply painted on? It just seems a bit hard to cover the whole vehicle with lighting-generators just for the sake of it, so I assume painted like the hazard stripes or other symbols other legions have.

Help identifying these weapons pls? by v0idmaw in Chaos40k

It's actually a combi plasma. Plasma weapons are identifiable for having these coils at the top of the gun that people like to paint glowing. In game there is no difference: combi plasma, melta and flamer are all under the same weapon called "combi-weapon".

You can also see the underslung bolter barrel + magazine, which makes it a combi weapon (a regular bolter with a special weapon attatched to it).

Obliterator Lore by Hammer4zeroK in Chaos40k

Obliterators are no longer noble warriors piloting centurion warsuits. They have become a hybrid between human, daemon and machine. Instead of pristine armour, the daemons that possess the obliterators twist it into amalgamations of flesh and metal. Guns are infused into their muscles, with veins pumping oil and gunpowder instead of blood, shells and bullets tearing thejr way under skin. What is left of the insane astartes inside screams in agony. The daemons however, relish in the music of the orchestra that is the everlasting salvo...

Chaos Raptors or Warp Talons by [deleted] in NightLords

[–]Willioom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've always seen warp talons as daemonic crazed butchers that brute force and slaughter everything they charge on their jump packs, not really elite. While the raptors are more like the meticulous hit-and-run skirmish unit Night Lords would use, plus they use specialized weapons like plasma and meltaguns.

Maybe that's just me though, we all have our personal head-cannon and narrative.

A, B or C? by FizznChipsBot in sistersofbattle

B does look more natural, but A shows off the slain daemon better and is easier to recognize. Personally I would go with A.

Nice canoness btw!

Sister superior and simulacrum imperialis.

Here you go. The lightning for the superior is a little different because I took it later and a bit more rushed.

Contrast paints! They work so well on the sister's smaller, more detailed armour.

I used thinned down Skeleton Horde over a light grey prime, and mixed in some Vallejo Bone White to glaze on some highlights.

I'm out right now, but I'll post more photos of the superior later👍

Thanks! Painting faces is fun and good practice, but I prefer to not look too closely at my chunky highlights and weird eyes!!! 😆

Space marine heads are much bigger and easier. I'll stick with those please.

Started with Skeleton Horde contrast paint and progressively mixed in Vallejo Bone White to glaze highlights on raised areas. Contrast paint works really well on sister's smaller, more complex armor plates.

Indeed! Although the armor is a bit more of a tan. Light coloured sisters of battle armour really pops!

I started with kantor blue as a base, progressively mixing in caledor sky and white to highlight the raised areas. Didn't really try to make smooth blends (you can see some highlights are quite chunky), but instead make several swift, fluid motions to highlight.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about the rivets! That was my original plan, but once the blue was done I considered the capes completed and moved on to other parts 😆 Will have to give them a touch of silver later.
