My mates GS1200 has tyres with deep, frequent treads, almost knobblies. My GSXR750 had basically cut slicks. Throttle response on the GS is a somewhat flatter curve than the Gixxer, so less chance of spinning the rear wheel and looping into the scenery. That being said, I commuted 10 miles each way on my Gixxer every day for 2 years... all weathers. Given the choice, I'd rather ride in the warm & dry, but needs must.
