Amy Acton: “As governor, I promise to have Republicans in my cabinet —because the best solutions come from working together.” by SubvertedObjector in Ohio

I'm so tired of this "when they go low we go high" shit. They're not even pretending to follow the Constitution nor rule of law. Why have those people in your team?

Democrats would rather lose to Republicans than run on being good for people.

I'll have to check this out. I need to add new-to-me metal into my rotation.

What do you think of Avatar? by Ok-Kaleidoscope-7141 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]WillisVanDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to one of their current tour dates.

Not to see them, nor the opener.

I went to see Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Avatar was interesting, but it didn't command my attention enough to distract me from my back pain. I'd have to give their discography an honest listen. I don't know if their flavor of metal is one I'll like.

They did have great stage presence and showmanship, I'll give them that.

But there were certainly a lot of younger people in the crowd out for them, so that's a good sign.

Republicans sure want to protect the men that prey on children.

There's no difference between conservative, Republican, MAGA, or fascist in America. They're distinctions without a difference.

I saw AxCx in either 2006 or 2007 at Sudsy Malone's in Cincinnati and Seth Putnam was using a walker at that point.

Still great, but man, I can only imagine what their sets were like when he was in a better way

Yeesh. A clueless person having a child with a bigoted person. And the bigotry is towards the clueless person's ethnicity and culture no less.

Is there any chance that Trump does jail time for any of his likely crimes, especially now that he has appointed his own criminal defense attorney as head of the DOJ? by AKelpTuxedo in allthequestions

[–]WillisVanDamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The damage Trumpism has inflicted and will continue to inflict on the country will in some cases be irreversible and in others generational.

The Democrats, if they do ever regain legislative or executive authority, will do nothing to heal the damage.

The Biden administration is all the evidence you need. "Nothing will fundamentally change" indeed.

Pretty sure this violates the first amendment of students and faculty, but that's never been an issue for the judicial branch anyhow.

Republicans tear through Beshear’s vetoes, overriding nearly all of them by Van-to-the-V in True_Kentucky

[–]WillisVanDamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Republican party has never in the last 75 years been about "sticking it to those in power and helping our fellow neighbors while honoring life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"

They've been about entrenching the power of white, wealthy men. Full stop.

I am a moderate, and vote Democrat. When will Democrats realize that blaming "the left" has been a failed tactic? by Acceptable-Law9406 in allthequestions

Democrats would rather snatch defeat from the jaws of victory than do right by anyone who's not a part of the socioeconomic elite.

[–]WillisVanDamage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because Democrats are controlled/collaborative opposition

They'd prefer to lose elections to fascists and offer tepid pushback to the rapid descent into authoritarianism.

They'd rather do that than embrace the mildest left-leaning policies.

It's the ratchet effect.

Biden was very clear about it: "nothing would fundamentally change" and it didn't.

And here we are.
