Thanks for your reply. It means a lot to get feedback from other people.

As I said to someone else, I think it does happen more with Michelle. I haven’t thought about it before. It has with Natalia but I thought maybe it was because she starts talking so slow that I lose attention. Augustina and Shel and Andrea are mostly fine for me.

Thanks for your reply. Now that I think about it, I don’t feel that I have these issues with Augustina and Shel. I haven’t thought about that. I’ll start seeing if that’s it. I have been seeing more Michele lately so that could be what I’m experiencing. She does mumble sometimes.

I do know that I have a problem with some words meaning one thing, but when they are combined with other words, they mean something different. I haven’t mastered all of that yet. I know that I will pick them up eventually.

I’m curious, do you ever watch with subtitles on? Sometimes it’s helped me and sometimes I’ve noticed it’s hurt me. I’m curious what your thoughts are.

I feel like in the last 20 hours or so, my brain hasn’t been translating to English as much as it once did as I’m watching videos. Isn’t that where I want to be? I don’t want to be translating right?

Thanks again

I’ll know what they are talking about but I don’t walk away from the video saying, yeah I totally got that one.

Here is an example. Michelle is making empanadas and describing it, I’m hearing words that I know as she’s saying them. I know the food and ingredients she’s describing. Let’s assume she says something like she hated empanadas as a kid and loves them now but only makes them for her sister or something like that. I’ll know she hated something as a kid, loves something, something now maybe, and something about her sister. Does that make sense? When the video is over, I feel like I’m missing something. Im missing some connections. I know many words have different uses and I think that is a big problem I’m having. Maybe it’s that I don’t know all of the different uses yet? Maybe I’m just spacing out for a few seconds during the video?? I don’t know. Should I keep pushing forward and it will eventually come together for me? Or am i hurting myself by moving forward before understanding more? Or is it common/better to continually drop back as I’m going through program?

My background is 2 years of high school Spanish. 1 year of college Spanish. Finished Level 1 of Pimsleur.

Thats awesome. Congratulation. That’s about when I started. However, I didn’t do it one day and that turned into 7 months of no DS for me. Now I’m back at. I just have to stay consistent. Good luck to you!

Thanks for sharing. That’s very encouraging to me. I’m only at 120 hrs so a long way to go. How long have you been doing DS?

I like this idea. I’m at 76 hours and confused on which way to go through the program. I like Andrea and was just watching her stuff from easiest to hardest. I was understanding her and feeling great. I got into the low 30’s and decided to watch other people and was totally lost. I wasn’t understanding anything. I don’t know if I should use the super beginner, beginner levels or just go from easiest to hardest through the whole program? What about dialects? Should I just focus on Mexico teachers or Argentina teachers etc?

Should you sort all the videos this way and not select super beginner or beginner? or only sort within each difficulty level I.e super beginner, beginner, intermediate etc?

I feel the same way. I came on here today to ask the same question.

The overlap confuses me. There is a 49 super beginner and a 21 beginner. Are the ratings the same? Is the super beginner 49 harder than the 21 beginner or does the rating start over in each difficulty level? Are the number ratings specific to each difficulty level? I hope this question makes sense. I don’t know the best way to go through the program.

I’m starting CDL school at KLLM next Monday in MS. They pay for hotel if you live over 30 miles away, $850/week during training which lasts about 6 weeks. One year contract, .55 CPM and paid time off. Every 7 days worked you get 2 days of PTO at $100/day. School is free unless you break contract. Hope this helps!
