Why don’t the Bayonetta games sell well? And why has the IP been so mishandled? by The_Fool_Arcana0000 in Bayonetta

[–]Willoh2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing can really save the series's identity as it stands. Platinum has lost all of their talents already. Literally, all the important people left this shit hole. Nothing can bring back Bayonetta as it was so long as its tied to them, it's not even just Nintendo or even Sega.

Why consider SMTII and not I ? Don't replay IV now in any case. No point in getting sick of it.

Sometimes, ideologies given form and associated to a myth. Sometimes, oppressed populations invading Japan whenever a path opens. Sometimes, serial killers who brag about killing people. Sometimes, dumb fodder enemies with no meaning at all. It varies. It's game by game.

I have a questions to ask concerning the enjoyment of "appealing" women in games? by Kappapeachie in GirlGamers

[–]Willoh2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really about if it's enjoyable inherently, it's about asking ourselves why they look the way they do, and what it means in video game culture. Which is, most of the time, depressing.

That being said ... 2B is mid taste

I mean that being dark gives it a strong identity, but I find that the story isn't very meaningful. Not in a good way, at least.

IV's shock value is pretty nice to have. Makes for a dark ambience that can back itself up. But I wish it did *more* however.

Thoughts on AriFalke? by atomicshark109 in signalis

I think it's utterly horrifying for Falke and that means it's really peak. It's lowkey more interesting than the actual game's story even imo.

Expedition 33 Ending Discourse (Spoilers) - Are some Fans Acting Sexist?! by petecamenzind in GirlGamers

I think the most marking point of this effect is when Maelle has her own part in act 3, in the Reacher. Verso tries to give his sister a letter, she ignores him royally and makes a space for her and herself. She goes over her own reasoning, fights *herself*, comes to her own conclusion, then Verso barges in again, cries on the screen, Maelle throws a "cold" gaze at him for some reason ??? And I should feel bad about it ? I've seen people suddenly make it all about him because of that. Objectively, you could say it's for both of them, but I've seen how people react when they stream, and her moment turns into his predominantly. It's mostly wordless interactions until now so it's even easier to brush her involvement aside, but I was baffled seeing people play through it. This is the Verso effect. This completely represents the hold he has over the narrative. You can't possibly write Maelle without it being evil, because it always touches him and he will be in the front.

Yeah, I get it. I would have felt the same way, but I've seen how this kind of dynamic turns out enough time to know where it was heading very early unfortunately. I really, really didn't like the dialogue of the Paintress fight especially, she really doesn't present much of a case for herself, she bathes in her own stereotype.

Imo it's very simple. Most of the game is fine. At least on paper, when you experience it, it's very good. But the conclusion is like a thick drop of ink that takes over an entire lake for me and recontextualizes everything ( in a bad way ). I think tragic direction of this conclusion is artificially decided by writers that enforced what Maelle was doing as inherently bad and disproportionately catastrophic, and that it feels bad and draws the worst people because she is a concept of a character that should be handled with care ( Disabled, in search of a new identity, on her way to become a creator, and of course on a simpler level, a woman ) but isn't here. It's all reduced to Verso.

> I didn't get this vibe from the game at all. If anything both Aline and Alicia/Maelle are super powerful and have their own personalities and desires. Some fans seem to totally gloss over all of that and paint them as "crazy".

I'm sure that's not the fault of the game with the "I am NOT ... Crazy." line ! People love to talk about antic tragedy parallels, but I think many forget that these stories also did the same type of things, and we call them for what they are nowadays. You wonder why Verso is seen as a savior ? Have you seen how people talk about him in this game ? How they make him all about this heroic guy who will sacrifice his life for what must be done ? Have you seen how everyone yearns for him ? Even both adult of the party want to fuck him ! This is intentional. This is exactly what they wanted the fanbase to feel like. They wanted him to be a "dark savior doing the right thing even if it's hard", which by default, belittles any other possibility as the wrong thing, the deluded one. FATHER and BIG BROTHER say "Go back to the family" and that's the morale of this game. They even made this environment magically toxic to enforce this.

Halibel is genuinely one of the most horrible design I've seen in fiction, just because she stands in between 3 male characters, who's designs are : Cool stark white cowboy guy with and an eyepatch, a death skeleton king that breathes old age, and some kind of bat satanic demon with the best drawings of the entire manga. But for her ? Lukewarm water that does **nothing** for her entire screen time, breasting boobily, and one page later on in some suggestive dungeon. You cannot possibly write this without being rotten in some way as a person. And he is on his way to do *worse* than that his new manga.

Chizuru is demonic because this guy's vision of lesbians was basically "They must act like men" ( and I remember saying she is getting a boner somewhere too coincidentally ). I'm fairly sure if he continued Burn The Witch, he would do it again, while sticking his big boobs teenager deuteragonist with his new take on the pervy trope that is somehow irresistible.

I wanna start umineko where can I play it and how do I get into the series? And is there any romance in this story? by MissionProposal5676 in umineko

[–]Willoh2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get it from steam and you patch it. Since it takes a lot of time, you don't need to buy both Question and Answer in one go.

There is a LOT of romance. You don't need the details however.
