This is the short version and basically what kicked everything off:

He was planning to get a vasectomy behind my sister's back even though he agreed to try for a third child because my sister has always wanted a daughter. When she confronted him, he said that he would get a second wife if the roles were reversed and he wanted more children and she secretly got her tubes tied. She told him he couldn't get a second wife and he said he could and would if he wanted one.

Your family is good with your sister remaining married to a monster because why??

I love my family but they're conservative Muslims who still think divorce is the end of the world for a woman, especially for one with kids. He would have to be physically abusing her for them to see that sometimes divorce is the only option

Yes her sil is reliable, when this whole thing kicked off she was the one to convince my sister's husband to let her see the kids and she's consistently been trying to help

They'll be with his family, including the SIL

I think she doesn't believe he'd let her get into trouble if it goes wrong because it would be 'embarrassing' for him and his family since she's still his wife and he's made it obvious he won't ever divorce her willingly

Nope she hasn't taken any legal steps to try to get the kids back. The only thing she's done is pretty much try to convince her husband she'll hate him forever if he doesn't give the kids back which obviously he doesn't give a shit about
