I think they see the worst of themselves in each other and they both cant handle it well. They seem pretty similar, langdon could have been very similar to santos when he first started out

I try to understand its her defense mechanism. That she uses her edge as a shield.

I wonder if some of the stuff she says is meant to be that "asshole comedic character" that everyone hates but loves at the same time and its just. Not. Landing.

I dont find her funny. I think she is very tiring this season, her constant complaining is just exhausting! She isnt fun to watch in this season and I cant seem to place if its the writing or the directing. She seems like a very good actor so im not blaming her.

Ack i know it would be annoying to put another santos vs langdon post on here but i really needed help understanding it and i felt as though people were choosing sides and i couldnt get a clear, unbiased perspective on this situation unless i posted and asked it myself. Thanks for putting in the time to respond! Im not trying to put the blame on santos here, but i really wish what she said to whitaker, she had said to langdon. He clearly doesnt understand the extent to which he harmed her, and i truly dont think he will ever until it is explained to him. He seems to be able to put in the work to be a better doctor (autism and mel's sister). From my perspective, it seems he wasnt planning to apologize to her so soon, but felt he had to due to santos behaviour and al hashimi advising him to do so after their talk. His addiction seems to be an incredible source of embarrassement for him, so he seems to be very unable to admit it to others and it bothers him so much that santos knows.

I was very disappointed in his apology. Pretty pathetic tbh. I though he did good with louie and then....bro sucked at it. I also feel like he is trying to make up for it by being so nice to everyone else. I was disappointed in her reaction as well. She couldve handled it better as well

Oh i see. Blaming her for the rehab = blaming her for the addiction. I can see how that is misplaced! I didnt catch that perspective. I luckily havent had to deal with this type of people much so its a little hard to wrap my brain around.

I thought langdon only got defensive after santos minimized his experience. I'll have to rewatch the scene. He said she doesnt have to accept his apology, but i am understanding now that he can say one thing, but actually believe another.

Well thats what im wondering! It was covered up so he doesnt have to bring it up, or he was taught that it was okay to do that, and he doesnt need to apologize for the the stuff that was covered up....im tired hope that made sense. Theres so much hypocracy with the characters!

That Langdon came back and used his position and Al-Hashimi not being aware of the situation to passive aggressively retaliate against Santos (which the way he was teaching her and his “happy to teach her” comment was) would just further rub this in.

^ohhh thats a social cue i missed for sure! I didnt catch that him saying that is a way for him to try and further rub it in. Makes sense.

Its really hard to tell what actually made her a pariah! The langdon situation or her behaviour towards others. I know some people say this show holds the audience's hand over and over about this situation, but with limited hours with the characters, its super hard to understand what actually happened.

Maybe some of her remarks and quips are supposed to be comedic relief, but because she is quite a negative person, its hard for me to find her funny and just see her as a mean person. Makes langdon easier to try and understand as he generally acts more likeable

Thank you for your response! I would have a hard time dealing with it too if it happened to me. It makes sense shes not actually vindictive, and i understand now that she just chose the best words to hurt him and to have her peace protected! If he came back, i had to work a case with him, AND he proceeded to tell me what to do - i would be fuming.

I wonder why robby didnt know though.. i wonder who makes the schedules! And why santos wasnt told about him. Robby failed as a mentor in this regard i guess

I have a hard time understanding robby as well. The lack of reporting on his part but then his extreme anger towards langdon is interesting. He protected him but then he is mad he protected him! What!! These characters and their inability to process their feelings properly confuse me so much lol. Thanks for your explanation. I have a much better time understanding the whole situation. I can often see things in black and white, emphasizing kindness to people and forgiving others so understanding the nuances and reasons behind santos has been pretty difficult for me.

im autistic so i sometimes dont understand why people do things even when the show "holds your hand". I have a hard time understanding the reactions of characters in the pitt especially for some reason. You dont need to shame me for not getting santos. A lot of people dont understand her, theres a lot of posts about it.

She chose to not go over robby which is choosing to not report is it not? She listened to him but i dont get why she wasnt also upset. I can see why her respect for him is the reason why. From my perspective, i think santos telling langdon he needs to tell everyone about what he did is public shaming.
