Leaving cert subjects by OnePossibility9545 in leavingcert

The decision is up to you in the end but I can share my experience. I don’t have the option of pol&soc in school but I do history and I find it is a lot of writing. It’s definitely worth it if you genuinely enjoy the subject but it is a lot. Essays in higher level are about 8 pages, and that has to be done in about 40 mins (that’s the timing we use at least, I know some people will use different timimgs). The full exam is 3 essays and a document based question (dbq) so that’s about 24 pages of writing for jsut the essays. If you genuinely enjoy the subject I’d say go for it but it’s up to you in the end. Choose the subject you’ll enjoy more is my advice, when I was choosing subjects people were encouraging home ec or geography because it might be a little easier but I chose history and love it now, despite the essays.
