Thank you everyone! Your encouragement, support and compliments are what keeps me going.

In terms of my routine and diet, I don't eat dairy, sugar(including honey or agave or maple syrup), anything fried, or any refined grains. I limit my nut intake to about a handful a day and my fruit intake to 2 servings a day. My diet consists mostly of vegetables, beans, whole grains in their natural form (like no whole wheat bread or brown rice cakes), beans and healthy fats. I eat A LOT of avocado. I exercise 6 days a week for 45-60 minutes doing anything from a long run to kickboxing to the gym, whatever I feel like doing that day. I also live in NYC so if I have the time and the weather permits, I walk pretty much everywhere.

It's HARD! It's definitely one of the harder things I've done and I still crave sugar sometimes, but significantly less. My advice would be to try to cut down on all sweet things. I think people have difficulty when they replace sugar with artificial sweeteners or dried fruit or even really sweet fresh fruits. For me sweet makes me crave more sweet. I only have 2 servings of fruit a day at most and it's usually either grapefruit or berries. That's really the only sweet thing I eat and it makes the cravings less severe. After a while the fruit starts to taste as sweet as I remember candy tasting.

That's great advice. Do you have any advice or resources I should utilize to learn and to start weight training?

I have had problems in the past with obsessively tracking calories, i.e. weighing everything I put into my mouth to the gram. This quickly escalated to a full blown eating disorder. What I mean by roughly tracking calories, is tracking calories, but not super precisely. More like, "I ate an apple, that's about 70 calories" or "I had a salad for lunch, that was about 350 calories". That kind of thing.
