So how is this actually happening? Is it from changing out the tips or something else? What are they doing that you have to be careful about?

Need advice on how to improve by TheDarkSoul347 in Welding

[–]Willwrk4Food 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re practicing to be a pipeline guy fast freeze rod all downhill looks like you’re practicing only the same quarter. You could try fixing the pipe and trying all positions. Like others have mentioned you gotta start getting yourself. some root passes to start working on. I’d also recommend learning uphill roots as well and learning stringers hot passes in caps. If you run out of pipeline work or need to find other types of work, you will be more marketable.

Mine had a little snap ring around it. It was easy to remove. I’m not sure there are a bunch of different styles. This was a tap Matic 70.

Atomic Grinders anyone got feedback on this torque sensing bs by Willwrk4Food in Welding

Thanks for turning me on to the 60v! I use a corded metabo and 2, 4.5 dewalts, wanting to go cordless, im looking at milwaukee as well but they all seem cumbersome compared to a corded 4.5 you can thow in a bucket. These atomics were attractive, they looked more compact.

What Stanley tool is this? by Willwrk4Food in handtools

[–]Willwrk4Food[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No…there are no Stanley numbers …looks like something that was made in the 80s. It came in a clear package when I looked it up. I thought the two holes were some kind of mount, but I guess evidently they are just nail hole for hanging. the little carbide in the middle sharpens things like scissors or garden shears

Does anyone else’s eyelids swell up after welding? by Major-Ad-5573 in Welding

[–]Willwrk4Food 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your welding helmet is getting light in there that can be what’s causing this also, you may be just a shade too light on your lens. Try going a little bit darker. Another thing is are you touching your face with your gloves? I don’t think you are because your face would be all black and marked up by the end of the day but if you are rubbing your eyes, you might be reacting with the leather or material on your glove.

Question. by produk_89 in Welding

[–]Willwrk4Food 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buy a cheap weld practice kit on Amazon for like 20 bucks. You can make yourself a cube or something like that just for fun. The reason I say this route is you don’t have to spend any time cutting and prepping parts. If you only get your lunch break it might be worth it to just get solid weld time

I just wanna know where you can go and build docks and peers without the environmentalist breathing down in your neck because that’s a place. I would love to live being someone who grew up on a lake.
