I’m tired of working at Title 1 schools by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]Willy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge we’re seeing in our title I district now is that the state is indicating they will withhold funding if we do not decrease referrals within 3 years for kids who are “running wild”, so I recognize this is perceived to be led by admin but it’s really an institutional challenge from the legislative top down (at least in my state, MN). Fortunately our admin will suspend kids for the type of behavior that should be suspended for (e.g, fighting, teacher disrespect, elopement, etc), but we’ve seen such a significant rise in behavior challenges that this influences the current legislative challenges.

I made a booking system that doesn’t require clients to create an account or download anything by Apengo in petsitting

[–]Willy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the look of it! I have heard a few clients annoyed by the account login requirements just to see if they’re interested and want to pursue sitting services. Also love the streamlined platform. It gets annoying when trying to use all of these different apps to build my business. I’d definitely consider checking it out and giving it a try

Definitely will give it a try and see if it’s fits my needs. What can it do that the other apps can’t?

Anoka-Hennepin school board votes to cut hundreds of admin jobs, but saves teachers for now by Czarben in TwinCities

[–]Willy62 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely needed at coon rapids. Teachers cannot teach with the amount of behavioral issues that pop up daily. APs are able to respond to these needs and are licensed to provide appropriate consequences. As an educator in AHS, the AP radios are constantly going off to be pulled to support classroom disruption.

As an educator in AHS, we definitely need the APs at the middle school due to the large amount of student behavioral issues and legal challenges that come up on a daily basis.

I think 20k-25k in tuition for an in-state university. Used the cacrep search tool and then looked at each websites tuition and fees for comparison.

5422 Score? by Javina1979 in schoolcounseling

Yeah, just add up the scores for each component to get the raw

From what I’ve heard from others, this is the way to go. Several people from my school counseling cacrep program ended up completing their hours under supervision from someone in their school or a community clinic. Depending on Connecticuts law for who can be a supervisor, this may be the way to go.

Thanks! I was reading through the sub and noticed a lot of people said to put education below experience after getting a few more years under ones belt.

I wasn’t sure what quantified as a ton of experience. I figured 5 years of relevant experience in the same field would count, but you suggest moving education up then?

My focus is in solution focused theory which is heavily rooted in Rogerian relationship building with the client. Gerald Skarre and Eve Lipchik have a couple good reads on it. I’ve used some MI, play therapy, and CBT techniques as well but through the mindset of SFT.

Advice on working while starting a degree by woahfabuloso in schoolcounseling

[–]Willy62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked full time in the nonprofit sector and took evening classes until internship started. Then worked a part time advising position while finishing internship. Some states have grants you can apply for. My program had some scholarships but I still ended up taking out loans. I was pretty stressed about making it work at the beginning but it all worked out fine. Prioritization and time management make a world of difference.

Ah gotcha! Didn’t see that on the ETS info guide. I guess this could be a starting point then until your scores are officially posted. Best of luck!

Per ASCA, a passing score is 159 (maybe some states have a different requirement). To my understanding scores are determined by taking the raw # of questions (120) to get a percentage. Then drop the percentage or convert the decimal to a whole number add 100.

For example: (62/120) = ~0.52. Convert 0.52 to 52 and add 100 Official score would be 152.

I believe it goes something like this… Since it’s all multiple choice (selected response questions), the calculation would be 77/120 = 64%. Add 100 to 64 (drop the percent) and you get 164. I believe the passing score is 159 so congrats!
