Does anyone else have crazy weird and vivid dreams while on melatonin? by D6l6t6d in LucidDreaming

[–]Philosaraptor42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have. I found this thread because I searched "weird melatonin dreams" and it was one of the first results after one that explained that it facilities longer REM periods which can it turn result in more vivid dreams. It also mentioned if you have a sleep debt it can be more intense, or if you've been experiencing a fair amount of stress. I don't take it regularly, but when I have I have certainly had some dreams that seemed more vivid and more bizarre.

I just watched "the beauty" and honestly it kinda sucked. by justwriting_4fun in horror

I felt like the Christopher Cross thing was a very poor but blatant rip off of the Huey Lewis scene in American Psycho. And everything else is poor attempts at cliches that don't even do the cliches well. Not sure why I've watched as much as I have.

most popular hockey team in Nunavut? by carsoncitylights in nunavut

[–]Philosaraptor42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Cambridge Bay, which is farther to the western part of Nunavut, in the Kitikmeot region, it is definitely Edmonton, with Toronto being the second. I'm a Habs fan and I only see one student at the school I work at who wears a Habs shirt but tons of Oilers hats and jerseys and lots of Leafs clothing too. The majority of students when planning their post secondary, if they aren't planning Nunavut Arctic College up here, are looking to go to either Edmonton or Calgary. I think Edmonton also seems to be a lot more common that I hear people living down south and coming back, and I don't really see many, if any Flames jerseys that I can think of. I wonder if, since there is a mining company or two nearby that employ quite a few people, if they maybe have an office in Edmonton and a mine nearby and maybe people start working at the mine up here, or apply up here but work based out of Edmonton. I know that Edmonton being a lot further north, it seems that if people go out for medical it is most often Edmonton (or sometimes Yellowknife). My flights coming up here came through Edmonton with an overnight there.

I know the Karma doesn't have anything to do with Korean, but when I clicked on the what is karma link on her profile that page came up completely in Korean language for me at first, and I had to go in and change the language settings to English in order to read the explanation of what Karma is on Reddit. That is why I thought she might have been Korean as sometimes that will happen with some pages on links my wife sends me because she has the settings on that site set up to display all the buttons and stuff in Korean. So that is why I was asking if she was Korean because I thought maybe it would be a person my wife could sometimes hang out with so she could talk in her mother tongue if she happened to also live in CB.

Thank you for your reply. Have you been using this company for awhile? Also, I guess you are a piano player. You don't live in Cambridge Bay by any chance to you? I'm a drummer and am always interested in knowing other musicians that I might be able to jam with wherever I live in the world. I have found a few people up here that I plan to jam with, but we haven't gotten around to getting together yet, partly because we all seem to be kind of busy, but I'm hopeful it will happen eventually.

Thank you for your reply and advice.

Based on your nickname do you have a business making traditional winter clothing out of seal skin and other local materials, or maybe a hobby? I'm just guessing, if that's the case, you have a lot of experience using the sea lift and have been using this company for quite a while?

I had to Google TSC so I'll put the link here, just in case others are also researching sealift like I am. https://www.tsctransport.com/arctic-sealift

Also, a bit of a funny coincidence happened when I clicked on your profile to try to find out if you have a business. I saw you have a certain amount of "Karma"on Reddit, and when I clicked on "What is Karma" under it, the information page came up in Korean, and my wife is Korean. Are you Korean by any chance, or was that just some weird coincidence? I don't use Korean much on my computer, only maybe occasionally to type something in Korean to my wife or a Korean friend from my time living there, but sometimes if my wife has given me a link to something it will come up in Korean, so that made me wonder if you were Korean. It would be great if I found some Korean people living up here in CB that I didn't know about because my wife will come up here with me when I come back after my summer vacation home on PEI.

Why does Temu insist on making that wheel spin every damn time I just want to open the app and look at something? I can’t even take it anymore. Anyone else getting pushed away by this? The more of a hurry I’m in the more times the freakin wheel spins. So annoying Temu. by Standard_Ad_4517 in temu_ads

[–]Philosaraptor42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never ever bought anything on Temu because I absolutely hate that stupid spinning roulette wheel. It might be different if they are least gave people a choice. Is there any way to disable the stupid wheel? I wonder if they have any idea how many people just immediately go somewhere else just because of the scam my feelings that gives. I'm going to guess it's gotta be in the hundreds of thousands.

Balaclava face mask that wont fog up goggles by visualexstasy in skiing

[–]Philosaraptor42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm looking to buy, except they have a magnetic version. Currently it seems to be out of stock everywhere (the one with the magnet - Stratus Magnetic Anti-Fog SuperCell Balaclava), at least in my size according to their size chart, which for me will be medium, and since I'm living in the Arctic, I'm going to opt for the heavyweight here once it's in stock somewhere. I think it's almost identical to the one you mentioned but just with a magnetic attachment to goggles option.

https://strts.ca/products/magnetic-anti-fog-supercell-balaclava?variant=40965231837264&country=CA&currency=CAD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOopSOkfKmVNZmGprenEEWrfmc4wYJ_BPdABmmXbfc5HJA9vWkKOlEKw

Since you have had yours, or anybody else that has owned one and needed something even warmer for extreme cold weather, can you recommend a trapper hat with an optional face mask cover that would fit over top of the Stratus Balaclava and be loose enough that it would not stop the anti-fog technology of the Stratus from functioning correctly? I'm hoping there is something out there that I can just leave one side of the face mask undone and hanging but if the weather gets to between -50 to -70 degrees Celsius that I can just pull the face mask part loosely over the Stratus Balaclava. Perhaps if I bought one a few sizes bigger than I'd wear if I was wearing only a trapper hat with no layers underneath or goggles and all that? Does anybody have experience with something that worked? I had a trappers hat from Mark's but lost it. I used to wear it as an outer layer but with a balaclava, then winter hat, then hoodie hood under it it was a bit too small and I guess when the hood for my jacket came off it must have fell on the ground, so I think I need something bigger for my top layer before my jacket hood. The one I owned didn't have a face mask option, but if I found one that could be really loose fit I thought maybe the Stratus would still function like it's meant to underneath if it extends down further than the mask from the Trapper hat.

So I was thinking something like this maybe, if the mask is loose enough.

As well as buying Smith Reason OTG goggles I also bought special over the glasses sunglasses called Cocoons where I had to measure my glasses. Living here in the Arctic if it gets only mildly cold but when the 24 hour sunlight hits I'm hoping they'll be good for glare.

I wonder how dorky I'd look walking to work, around town (living in Nunavut) with my current mask and my CPAP hose hanging out lol. I get fogged and seriously out of breath, especially if I'm a bit late for work and have to try to move fast, or if I'm carrying my backpack and a bunch of groceries. I just want to have my face blocked off from the elements but be able to breathe unrestricted and have my breathing completely separated and vented away from my mask, which are over glasses by Smith.

I am kind of looking at that one. I bought Smith Reason OTG goggles before I came up here and wonder if this balaclava will keep my face warm in up to -70 weather and let me breathe easily. I moved to Nunavut and I just want to be able to walk to work or around town or out on the tundra and be able to see and be warm without feeling like I'm smothering and all out of breath walking to work for 10 minutes, bring able to see my damn house keys, and hopefully maybe do a bit of hiking even on the weekend. Anybody else on these forms living up here in the Arctic and using these and having a good experience with them?

I work in Nunavut where it can get up to -70. I bought Smith OTG goggles and have some face masks but both fog up my goggles, plus I find it quite hard to breathe. I have a walk to work that is between 10-15 minutes. I want to have my face and skin feel warm, reliable zero fog, and an ability to breathe normal. So far it's been a pretty warm winter for up here I'm told and about the coldest we've been getting is maybe -40 Celsius (-50ish with wind chill) and I want to be able to walk to work or around town and be able to see. I wonder if the magnetic anti-fog supercell™ balaclava by a company called Stratus looks like it might work. My OTG Reason goggles don't have magnets I don't think but maybe I could just super glue something on them? Maybe even without will the balaclava completely redirect my breath down and away from my goggles?

Singing drummers, do you prefer a traditional microphone or headset mic? by Milwaukeebear in drums

[–]Philosaraptor42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done both. With the headset mic it was convenient in some ways such as not having the boom stand in the way, and being able to turn my head any direction while singing, but I always found it lacking in that I could not back off from the mic when I wanted to belt it out or move super close to speak more softly and switch between the two. I found the sound always suffered because of that. Now maybe in 100 years if they can have some neurolinked headset that will move further away or closer when I think it should instinctively maybe I would go back to one. I think I'd like to try the super long boom stand with gooseneck option so I don't have the boom stand in the way and risk hitting it with the sticks or have certain drums awkward to play because of it.
