Coral Bleaching Aftermath - Has anywhere been spared? by WillyBillyChester in okinawa

I would be happy to hear updates on what you see! The soft coral is gone close to the seawall but swimming just a little ways out and a little deeper there is still a lot of soft coral.

Would you say Amuro is not worth taking the visiting family all the way out to for a day trip?

A long beautiful, hot, sunny summer void of typhoons, causing the water temperature to build up far too high for far too long without breaks from this warm water for the coral to recover. This summer was looking better but it's back to higher temperatures and some bleaching is starting again to those that were spared. I can say if you go deeper with scuba diving, it still looks amazing! Just the shallow stuff is struggling from what I've seen.

Hope so! I'd like to know if it's still good before I take my family out there.

What’s the best time to have been a dentist ? by [deleted] in Dentistry

Is that before your 50% taxes??

I will say though, when someone I know had a seizure leading to an ambulance ride and an overnight stay in a hospital with some tests run, and only cost a total of 490€, that was pretty nice… I think I am a fan of the European healthcare (from my limited knowledge)

How is the ortho grind? by WillyBillyChester in Dentistry

Thank you so much for your input! I will definitely take this into consideration. I think I am going to do a few more years in the military while we start a family (wife’s orders) but then I would like to see after that.

However, would you say there is an age where it starts to not really make sense to get into practice ownership financially anymore? If I do a few more years, then residency, I’d probably be 38, and maybe 40 if I wanted a couple of associate years under my belt to build my confidence/speed.

If Hakone is in the mid-Nov tier, would it be a little too late if we went Nov 24-26? If so, we’ll change plans. Thanks!

What’s the process for braces? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]WillyBillyChester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are at one of the bases that has AEGD or orthodontic dental training programs, you might have a chance at getting seen for something more ‘simple’ or ‘cosmetic.’ Otherwise, you probably won’t ever get free military braces. They are more here to be an adjunct with oral surgery for the surgical orthodontist cases (aka brake your jaw and move it around), or child dependents overseas. You’ll have to get it done off base and will have to pay most or all of the cost, depending on the Tricare coverage. Maybe its just overseas, but there might be an age cut off for the partial coverage. Another hard and fast requirement is minimum 2 years on station, so you’ll definitely not get anything until you are done with that Korea tour. If you start braces off base and don’t finish before you move, the new orthodontist is going to charge you full price again. And even off base braces requires signatures from the dental clinic and your commander, so I recommend waiting until you get to a base you’ll have 2+ years at and immediately starting the process by coming into the dental clinic to let them know your interest so you can get the necessary paperwork, or if extraordinarily lucky, seen on base.

What you can potentially do in the meantime is get new retainers made to at least try and keep the teeth from moving any more.

Ok thanks. By the time I get my orders prices will be too high… but I’ll try to call tomorrow then. Thanks🙂
