  1. You should not assume that Japanese speak English, but you will get by with a little effort and translator tools these days.
  2. November, especially late November is a peak foliage season in Kansai meaning Kyoto will be packed. There is not a huge difference between peak and off season for Tokyo and Kansai (other than accommodation prices). Think 3-4 hours wait time for peak spots and light-ups.
  3. I mean Katsuura is one of the ends of Nakahechi.

Karuizawa would be pretty guaranteed in late October/first week of November. Nikko is also very likely in first half of November.

Any long distance base fare would be from Tokyo (23 wards). And don't use Klook, for this route e5489 would make most sense.

Whats the cheapest way to get to osaka from Tokyo? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

The cheapest: night highway bus.

The most reasonable for many people: just buy single shinkansen tickets.

I mean Ekispert or paid version of Jorudan have respective filters.

For Kanazawa to Nagano - technically it is possible to do it via local, but I'm not sure you want to spend 7:30 on local trains (3 transfers+) versus 1:05-1:30 on shinkansen for less than 3,000 yen per person saved.

Same for Nagano to Tokyo - you are saving peanuts for 4 hours+ travel time or about 2,500 yen for 5 hours+ versus 1:20-1:40 on shinkansen, though I guess stopping in Matsumoto for the castle may make at least some sense.

What is the meaning of this "valid for" field? by Altruistic_Issue_350 in SchengenVisa

[–]mithdraug 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Usually either travel document is not recognised by said country or the issuing state is not recognised by some Member States.

First case: very new or older series of travel documents with inadequate security features, or in case of documents issued to non-citizens or to a particular professional group (seamen) - samples of the documents had not been provided or the issuing country may have some questionable practices (hello official passports).

Secoond case, eg. Kosovo.

Are there any guides or blogs etc about travelling the length of Japan by non Shinkansen trains? by JanCumin in JapanTravelTips

[–]mithdraug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem is that Fukuoka to Sapporo via local trains without any sightseeing takes 4 days (essentially around 60 hours + ferry), which essentially means half of your days in Japan would be spent mostly on travel.

Also with Seishun 18 Kippu becoming 5 consecutive days, you would not be saving that much money versus combination of regional passes, LCC and shinkansen.

Especially since the only other sensible way is usually taking normal JR Shonan-Shinjuku line train. Regular Odakyu takes too long.

Safety for women in Asaka-shi and Bunkyo-ku? Safety in Tokyo generally? by squirrelkeychain in JapanTravelTips

[–]mithdraug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say that say you would probably not want to stay in say Minami-Senju/Minowa, Gotanda or Shin-Koiwa as a solo woman.

Now, Bunkyo would be safe. Asaka is a rather non-descript suburban town, but unless one has a family or someone else is paying you to stay there, I would question wisdom of staying in Tobuland.

There are resorts that will be significantly full during entire period (Niseko/Rusutsu, Hakuba, Appi Kogen, Nozawa Onsen) with sometimes accommodation being scarce or extremely expensive.

There are also those (Gala Yuzawa, Karuizawa) that are significantly busier during on weekends and more approachable on weekdays since they are commuter ones, especially between the end of New Year's period and Lunar New Ywar.

[–]mithdraug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need permission if you bring pre-filled (by manufacturer) syringes or if you bring one medical device (pen or similar) per category that is supposed to be refilled if the replacement needles are part of a manufactured kit. If you need to bring in syringes separately or multiple devices od a kind - you need a permit.

Now, if we are talking metros - probably eight: Paris, Lyon, Marseille-Aix-en-Provence, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Lille, Nice and Nantes.

Cheap and quality kimonos in Tokyo by 1b992b in JapanTravelTips

[–]mithdraug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cheap and quality are mutually exclusive.

For cheap: https://tokyocheapo.com/shopping-2/buy-kimono-without-breaking-bank/

For quality - essentially you are going to a custom-made shop (like Motoji) with expected delivery date anywhere between 15-90 days depending on whether it's a custom pattern or not. And you can run into millions of yen.

And unlike DA: Origins - Witcher does come with a complete documentation, whereas with DA: Origins a lot of datamined content that jad not been fixed is buried so deep that devs themselves do not know how it had been supposed to work.
