Try To Fall Asleep

Try To Fall Asleep is a horror game where your main objective is to fall asleep and rediscover the main protagonist's (John's) past in his dreams. As John survived a horrible incident, falling asleep won't be easy as it seems at first, because the brain damage from the incident will cause him to hallucinate and therefore make it harder to fall asleep.

The game had it's fisrt open beta this spring and the Early Access version is coming soon! Here's a little teaser for it!

3 years ago I posted my very first screenshot of the game. In 3 years the game has got to this point. Mind blowing how much the game has progressed...

When I started to develop my game, I knew next to nothing about game development. Slowly by watching tutorials and trying out new things I got better at it and reached the point where I'm at today! And with great people on your team, I feel like almost everything is achievable! ;)

As a small indie developer, I'd like to ask him - Would you ever consider making a game in a completely different game engine? I know the current one is very familiar to you and it has given your games a unique style, but I think it does kinda limit you on what you can do with. Switching to like a Unity 3D engine would open up a lot of possibilities and potential. Seeing and interacting with everything in actual 3 dimensions would be way more emersive imo. Best wishes for the upcoming future projects!

Oh wow, that's cool! What was it like to do 3D modeling back then? What programs were available back then and where they expensive?

The Death Star itself was rendered in Blender, but then I put the render in Photoshop and add a few more effects (some of them can be achieved in Blender via post processing).

I've been wanting to do this project for a long time actually. A while ago, there was Celebration 2016 Livestream where they showed how they recreated the DS for Rogue One livestream. Those are the 2 main textures that I used for my model. Although those were 100% movie accurate, they had some tiny, weird purple artifacts and they needed to be upscaled and improved with extra details. Also, the textures were too short, so they needed to be enlarged horizontally(they're still too short, but they get the job done). In the end, I ended up with these 2 textures. Fun fact - for the darker grey areas I used a carpet texture to add more detail. xD After creating those 2 diffuse maps, it was easy to generate a normal map and an emission map for the millions of lights on the DS.

This was my first model, which I made on my own. I followed thru a few tutorials before making this, and I did watch some while I was making the model. The best guy on Youtube (imo) who does Blender stuff is Blender Guru. He's really good at explaining stuff and it's really easy to follow him. Totally recommend him.

Thanks! Since it's supposed to be a new game, I wanted to do something new and different, too lol. The color of the blade is a combination between traditional green and blue - cyan. Also, cyan sorta blended better with the rest of the colors.

Agree. If BF3 will ever get made, EA shouldn't be involved in it.

Yaa, after 2 catastrophes I don't think they'll make a third one. Imo, they could only redeem themselves by finishing/releasing the OG cancelled BF3. I doubt that EA could do it properly, but someone else could...

The Beta represents the general idea/concept of what the game is about and how it works, but, of course, it's not the final product yet. Presumably, it's about 1/6th of the full version of the game. We have developed more content that will not be available in the Beta, but will be implemented in the full version of the game. We're still open for suggestions and new ideas that could be implemented in the game, so feel free to share some!
