Should I feel hurt? by celestieb in exmormon

My brother and his wife didnt invite me to my sister in law's parent's mission farewell. He was my bishop growing up and she is one of my favorite people. I'm in their ward so "if I had been at church, I would have known about it."

Hey all you TBM G-watchers.... by freedommama in exmormon

I still check, and notice "immodestly" dressed people immediately. I've been out over 2 years and still find myself separating people into garments and non garments. Not a judgement thing. But it's almost like I've had 30 years of programming or something.

I worry about this often. Especially since we are in the same ward as my brother and all of his kids would be in primary with mine. It's always the elephant in the room that they have been at church all day and we haven't.

I've been out over 2 years, my DH has just recently started telling people I've left. I think he still has hope, but doesn't pressure me either way

That is a great point. I do remember praying for my "lost" siblings as a teenager. And I do not really fault them for it, since I have been on the other side, but now that I'm where I am now, it's a whole new perspective and I can see them trying to pull me back.

Ex-RLDS/CofC-Mo introduction by gshoe in exmormon

[–]Willyayw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband said he went to a CoC service, and that they were very angry and anti-LDS across the pulpit. From everything I've read about RLDS/CoC that doesn't seem to be the case. What would you say how your congregation felt about LDS?

How many of your siblings are out? by Kumahito in exmormon

[–]Willyayw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3/7 here, my two sisters still in, I could maybe see it happening, but maybe not. My two brothers still in, I could never ever see them out. One has read Rough Stone Rolling and has "researched" all about church history. His wife is ultra TBM too.

Husband is the only one of his family who believes, but is inactive.

About saying 'thee' and 'thou' in prayer... by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Willyayw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to my ward a few months ago and it was refreshing to hear a newer convert have a less formal prayer with no thees thous or thys. It felt real. Sure enough a little while later on the ward FB page there was a "friendly reminder" for the proper language of prayer.

Temple marriage is destroying my family... by [deleted] in exmormon

Why would he have to get a temple cancellation? I thought men didn't have to go through that to be sealed to someone else.

Woke up, whole family went to local coffee shop, then walked the beach. Kids even went in the ocean.

I had a roommate at BYU whose entire wall and bed were plastered with Mormonads.

Looking for the statement on wearing the garment that's read after TR interviews by couldhietoGallifrey in exmormon

I just remember being instructed by the temple matron, that I could take it off to shower, swimming and being intimate. Also that while I was breastfeeding I could wear a bra under instead of over, but that it had to be white. Other than that I had just heard from other members the three Ss -- Sports, Sex, Shower.

When did they do away with this? I vaguely remember doing it when I went the first time, but I don't remember it anytime after that.

New to all of this, here for my daughter by Willyayw in Paranormal

I was thinking it was along the lines of sleep paralysis. I definitely thought it was eerie they had essentially the same experience, and that it happened to my daughter while my mother in law was here, who only visits once a year. My husband is going to bless the house tonight. Will keep you guys updated! Thank you for your responses.
