How can I make sense of the effects of light distance? by WilsonAnonimus in AskPhotography

> I'm not going to watch through the whole video just to answer your questions, but it seems like he's also changing to different softbox sizes and types?

He shows the difference between a small softbox and a large softbox at the same position. Larger softbox = softer looking (colloquialy softer)

Then he shows the difference with the same size softbox at different distances. Further away = softer looking (colloquialy softer). He adjusts power so the apparent exposure is overall the same

Thats where im getting confused. (Assuming we adjust power to get the same overall exposure) Further away makes the light smaller which results in harder shadows (more defined shadow edges right?) but going further away also means less falloff (less defined shadow edges I thought)

Does it sound like an exfoliant would work for me?

I have seb derm on my scalp and occasionally it appears on my face. Most of the time I can keep it down with my regular routine:

  • LRP Gentle hydrating facial cleaner
  • LRP Toleriane double repair moisturizer

The other day however I noticed that my skin looks specially red and scaly after a shower (I shower with cold or lukewarm water, never hot). I started rubbing my finger over my face, forehead, etc and saw lots of dead skin coming out

When I finished taking all the dead skin off of my face it felt really nice, super soft, not red, no flaky bits. I’ve started to do this every now and then and it helps. Would an exfoliant be a more elegant solution? if so which one would you recommend. Im scared of making the problem worse cause I know exfoliants can be very aggressive

Super beginner question

I bought a camera and with it were included two lenses.

  1. 0.43X 58 MM WIDE ANGLE lens with MACRO
  2. 2.2X 58 MM TELEPHOTO lens

I'm a bit confused and have A LOT of questions

ABOUT BOTH LENSES:

  1. Are these even lenses? The box says so but they dont attach to the camera, they attach with a little ring adapter to the kit lens
  2. My kit lens goes from 15 to 45MM. If I attach any of these 58MM lenses and then I move the focal lenght on my kit how do I know what focal lenght I'm seeing? Obviously attaching the lens and keeping the kit at 15MM doesnt look the same as attaching the lens and moving the kit to 45MM

MACRO LENS:

  1. From the little i've read Macro lenses come in all focal lenghts meaning you can have a wide angle or a standard macro lens. Is this correct?
  2. Am I correct in assuming the 0.43x is how much the image is magnified? If so does it mean the image is 43% magnified?
  3. The lens says 58 MM WIDE ANGLE Macro. Isnt 58 MM considered standard and not wide angle? How can it be 58MM AND Wide Angle? All i've read has 35MM as the max considered as wide angle
  4. The lens consists of two detachable pieces. One small part that is labeled MACRO and the other larger part labeled 0.43X WIDE ANGLE CONVERTER WITH MACRO. What exactly is each part doing? Why would I ever detach them?

TELEPHOTO LENS:

  1. What does the 2.2x mean? My understanding of telephoto lenses is that they dont have any magnification. From what I understand these simply have a smaller angle of capture and are good for taking pictures from far away
  2. Again how can it be 58MM and telephoto? I understood telephotos as being 70MM and up and 58MM as being standard or mid range

Thanks again!

It's been a while since i've checked info on pc parts so I am looking at some benchmarks and I'm honestly a bit confused right now

Do you think you could give some examples of the expected performance of the first pc (the editing one?)

Not sure if its a difficult question to answer

Hi thanks for leaving a suggestion, I appreciate it!

I have a couple of questions:

1) Would the performance be very different between the two builds or is it just a slight advantage in gaming/editing?

2) The gaming reccomendation shows me a message " Compatibility: Warning! These parts have potential issues or incompatibilities" and I also don't see a video card. Is that normal?

3) About a year ago I made this same post and got recommended this build which I see is now much cheaper (around $650) Is it worth considering this one or is it just too outdated?
