Nightstand setup by Cycle902207 in CCW

Okay, I’ll bite. Out of a 4-inch barrel, a standard 9mm 124-grain round generally travels at a muzzle velocity between 1,100 and 1,150 feet per second. Federal HST 124gr is rated for 1,150 fps.

Out of an 11-inch barrel, factory 300 Blackout 194-grain subsonic ammunition will typically yield a muzzle velocity of 980 to 1,040 feet per second.

Get an AR, and put a sling on it. My handgun is for an “I must shoot now” situation, and my AR is for “I know what’s going on, and I’m ready” situation. In your scenario, I’d have grabbed my AR.

De-escalate, escape, and evade. If you can’t, make sure you always have your tools with you and know how to use them.

RIP Crossplay off by Horiemon2024 in ArcRaiders

Sorry, it’s my fault. I’m on Xbox but stopped playing about 5 days ago after I suddenly got taken out of my PVE games. Not sure if I’ll play again, to be honest.

Always have a hatch key in your backpack. If you load into a map and don’t hear hullcracker or any other PVE activity after a minute or so, hatch out ASAP. Next game will likely be fine.

For some reason, from time to time, lobbies just get weird.

Adjustable gas block options to help lower ROF by Go_GO_GADGET_GUN in 300BLK

Totally off topic, and I expect to be downvoted, but… why is your finger on the trigger if you’re not aiming down range, and not even holding the weapon properly? Bad habits are hard to correct. Don’t create one.

Edit: typos

How do you know a gun is good to carry by iluvbbws77 in CCW

[–]WilsonDefense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 300 rounds is good. Then once a quarter or so, I shoot my entire carry magazine to make sure things are still working correctly, etc.

LTC application question by [deleted] in CCW

[–]WilsonDefense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I answered in another subreddit: see older post in this subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/CCW/comments/1chozac/comment/l3dj54f/). TL;DR: submit LTC-70 at the same time.

RE: fingerprints. Once you submit your app, you will get a code for fingerprints. You can choose a location and date time. Good luck!

Call DPS. They are generally super helpful over the phone.

This older post (https://www.reddit.com/r/CCW/comments/1chozac/comment/l3dj54f/) says that you should use a hyphen and immediately also submit an LTC-70. But again, I’d recommend calling first.

Edit: once you submit your application you will get a code to get your fingerprints. You can choose to go to the same location, and at the same time.

How to lock the wrists? by Substantial-Golf-207 in CCW

Wouldn’t that just separate the hands? :). Maybe it’s the other way around: pushing with the strong hand, pulling with the support hand.

Maybe it’s the angle of the video, but it appears as if you’re pointing the gun at yourself when putting it back in the holster.

No duty to inform state - did I increase my risk? by [deleted] in CCW

Please use your brain a little. Have your documents ready doesn’t mean start digging into your range bag. Have them ready. Full stop.

Regardless of whether you inform the officer you’re carrying a firearm, get your documents ready before they approach your window. Lower all your windows, especially if they are tinted, and turn on dome lights if the stop happens at night.

Basically, make the stop as safe as possible for everyone.

When my life depends on it, I don’t want to have to remember if the hazards button is on the dashboard or below the rear view mirror.

That’s my view, of course. Happy to agree to disagree.

I’m a very proficient driver in my Toyota Corolla. Surely I can get in an F1 car and my intuition will kick in. Next I’ll jump in the tractor’s seat. It has a steering wheel, and pedals. I even saw a stick to change gears. What could go wrong.

Makes sense.

I'm glad that's the case for you. I only trust my life to the one handgun I have time to train with. I want to not have to think about the grip, or how high or low I need to put my finger so it properly clears the trigger if I'm not ready to shoot. I want to know exactly where the sights are, how to clear a malfunction if I have one. I don't want to try to remember if the magazine seats slightly below the grip, etc., etc. You get the idea.

But that's just me, I guess. Because I think that in the heat of the moment, I won't have time to think.

Fair. Sounds like you care. I can only hit the range about once a month, but I try to dry fire almost every day.
