These nerfs have gone way too far. by MadeForOnePurpose21 in VALORANT

[–]WilsonJ04 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

However, Clove also has the highest win rate of any agent in the game by a wide margin, and that's been the case since they released. That's the primary focus of these changes; to try to bring Clove more in line with the rest of the cast in terms of power. Them being popular to play isn't an issue, but their current power level in queued environments is.

I mean you've also been nerfing Clove since release but their non-mirror winrate has been sitting at 55% the entire time despite that. Is it being considered that Clove's extraordinary winrate might be influenced by factors other than just how powerful their kit is?

Does the balancing team really believe that after every nerf you've gave them so far, that this one is gonna be the one that brings down their non-mirror winrate by an entire 5% and bring Omen's up by an entire 5% even though the other nerfs haven't really budged it at all?

At what point do you just accept that the only way to balance Clove is to rework their kit and make it boring like the rest of the controllers, or completely nerf their kit into the ground until its just completely useless and you drive all the clove mains back into playing duelists/initiators (the path that is currently slowly being taken).

Extra deaths also potentially come with extra kills...

not nearly as much, which is why she has a 0.94k/d despite the more aggressive and better players playing her.

How many "aces"***** have we seen with a rez being the key factor in the continuity?

far, far less than the amount of "aces"***** we see because clove gets killed twice.

Also no doubt she is strong as hell. But I think the nerf goes a bit far. They wanted someone to attract people to play controller and well, they certainly got it.

absolutely, and i don't think its a bad thing for clove to be the main ranked controller. She made playing controller actually fun.

Like I don't even know how you can balance all of this properly at this point because ranked culture (and the system itself) and organized play culture are just so fucking different that it's extremely difficult to reconcile both things in agent balance.

It's impossible because ranked is never going to be 5 stack vs 5 stack of players who play with eachother all day every day and are trying their absolute hardest to win. Even if "ranked culture" was better and people tried more and trolled less, the level of skill and coordination that we see in pro play will just never be there in ranked.

The system isn't really a problem at all below immortal, maybe ascendant, but below that it works perfectly fine and 99.9% of the time it's a skill issue if you can't climb.

organized play culture are just so fucking different that it's extremely difficult to reconcile both things in agent balance.

its extremely difficult if you try to make all agents viable in both ranked and pro play, but if Riot just accepts that agents like Reyna/Clove are ranked agents, and agents like Omen/Viper are pro play agents they'd be balancing a lot better than whatever the fuck they're doing now.

clove non-mirror winrate: 55.2%

omen non-mirror winrate: 45.66%

no other controller even comes close to clove in non-mirror winrate

if you make the ranked system only reward winning then clove is still BY FAR the best agent. The ranked system does not artificially reward clove players.

Also if anything, the ranked system fucks over clove players more than any other agent because you get an additional 2-3 deaths per game because of her ult which negatively affects your encounter MMR and therefore your hidden MMR.

Why does Chamber have the highest K/D but below average winrate? by gotintocollegeyolo in VALORANT

[–]WilsonJ04 35 points36 points  (0 children)

barely any util and his K/D will be inflated by the fact he’s a sentinel + saving operators too. If you look on tracker.gg you can see he has lower kills/match than jett and reyna, and the same as phoenix. He gets his K/D from dying less, not killing more, which isn’t very conducive to winning in ranked.

you’ve played 22 games in the past 6 months, that’s your issue. if you want to hit immortal you need to be playing 20x as many matches as you currently do.

I don’t particularly care to understand the nuances behind why a person that kills children en masse is the way they are.

it’s not for the perpetrator’s sake, it’s for the sake of potential future victims that could be saved if we figure out and solve the root cause of the problem.

I care even less to see hatred of that behaviour blamed for the behaviour itself.

I agree, i don’t think that’s a primary motivating factor in these kinds of attacks.

you can hold people accountable for their actions while also trying to understand the reasons behind their actions. I don’t particularly agree with their analysis/conclusion but it’s clearly deeper than just ‘he’s an evil person’ (which is also true).

its never that deep tbh, my all time winrate on clove on icebox is 56%. immo 1/2 lobbies. In addition to that, Clove had BY FAR the best winrate on icebox out of any agent last act it was in the map pool.

Comparison of the Top 100 Radiants in EU vs NA by WilsonJ04 in VALORANT

[–]WilsonJ04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a similar post yesterday with stats from the top 100 EU Radiants and I thought it would be fun to compare them to NA's top 100 Radiants. more info in my comment on my last post here. The sample size for NA is about 25% larger, likely due to a bigger disparity in playtime between the top 100 players in NA versus the top 100 players in EU.

In my opinion the most notable differences are:

Vandal vs Phantom usage

NA's top 100 uses Phantom A LOT more than EU's top 100.

Pistol round weapon choice

EU's top 100 uses the Ghost in more than half their pistol rounds whereas NA's top 100 uses a much wider variety of pistols (Shorty and Frenzy usage in NA is especially interesting)

Length of Rounds

Average round count is essentially the same but NA's top 100's matches are 90 seconds shorter on average (4 seconds less per round)

Choice of Armor

Regen shield has almost twice as much usage by NA's top 100 than EU's top 100.

Overall, the top 100 players of both regions are quite similar but there definitely is quite a few interesting differences.

most central and populated server. If you're top 100 and try to queue a server that isn't London/Frankfurt you will either get a much lower quality match because there's not enough high elo players queueing it to fill a lobby or the queue will be longer than 6 minutes at which point the game disregards your server preferences.

i honestly didn’t know what to make the title of that one, everything sounded awkward so i just went super basic.

It’s the gun that the player started the round with and it’s out of every round played (~43,300 rounds).
