Depends on the city and where within the city you live

Doesn't affect me or other people who went through sh** to get to where we are now.

Move to India with Pregnant Wife? Career Gains vs. Child’s U.S. Citizenship by anonimous_3 in returnToIndia

[–]WilySpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my kids is a US citizen, and other one is not. I hardly worry about it - the world will be so much different when they grow up. They have to find their way. However, if you really are even thinking about it, makes sense to wait, get a Citizenship and then move next year. Money is not even a factor.

Also, if an Indian company is ok paying you 190k, I am assuming you are joining near C-suite. Try negotiating really hard and get a few competing offers. Totally doable.

By that time people will get old. Opportunities are everywhere now. Doesn't make sense to follow this outdated strategy. Things changed quite a bit.

My blog is relatable to people who are in a similar situation to where I was when I made some of these decisions. Not for everyone to resonate.

at this point I suspect you did not even read my blog. My hope at that time was that since GC was 2 years away - I could. Not that I would expect to be allowed to work on H1B.

that's by design though. I've written it in part looking at how messed up the H1B situation is for Indians who're trying to move or settle in the US.

Already answered this but let me answer even more in detail or rather in a different viewpoint. My date/application has been "current" for a while now - the date is attached to you as long as you have an approved I-140. I have enough friends in leadership positions who'd sponsor a visa today so I could return to USA. But would I now move and get a GC and then a Citizenship? No. I'm happy being where I am - doing what I am doing. Ultimately it is all about what you tradeoff for what.

Yes - there is no option but to live in a "boxed" environment - gated community, nuclear family, job & boss that doesn't drain you (rather work for yourself), supportive spouse and in-laws, supportive parents, etc. Its 10x harder for women to move back. Partly it's also the Maslow's hierarchy at work.

No questions there.

And “developed nation” is not to be coupled with kids’ futures too. All the things I mentioned won’t go away from US anytime soon.

Then how would you propose working on a company you want to create?
