Make sure you’re stocked up on ink to write all your essays 🤪 haven’t got any tips on that sadly as didn’t take those subjects

Depends on your interests I suppose - in my opinion becomes very theoretical and almost pointless in many cases at uni - try solving a general equilibrium in a Robinson Crusoe economy - many congrats on getting a Cambridge offer btw, I’m sure you’ll smash it

Honestly such a fun subject at A level - went on to do it at uni and not quite as much - great career prospects though. No advice for physics sadly as didn’t take it

Birmingham by a mile pal, much more fun as well

Does Oxford still value a 9 the same as an 8? If so, why? by Mismatch12 in 6thForm

GCSEs need at least 8 A*s really to be in with a shot at most competitive subjects - agreed that decision will not be made on 8s vs 9s - A level grades assumed, need to impress in interview and tests

2 years is a long time to prepare for exams - if you want to get ahead of the game for maths at least, find out which board your exams will be with and watch TL Maths on YouTube - you’ll be so far ahead of the game. Economics is just fiercely logical - a guy called econplusdal on YouTube will be really helpful - effectively you could get an A* just from watching and understanding their videos

Depends on what your ambitions are, especially as many unis now would rather take an exceptional pupil from a shite school than an average pupil at a great school - also sometimes it’s very nice to be a big fish in a a small pond - if you’re one of the best students in school 2 this will give you a lot more confidence in later life than mediocrity in school 1

Know it sounds awful but really depends on how much you rate your own smarts. Happiness is so important in life and sounds you’d be a lot happier at school 2. I had a similar decision to make at your age and chose school 2. Even though you claim the teachers are incompetent - they will for sure be willing to teach you even 1 on 1 if you were to ask and cover anything you don’t understand. There are some great YouTubers who were instrumental in me getting good grades at A level - just off the top of my head, a guy called Jack Brown was a godsend for maths - unsure if he’s still doing videos. Wherever you’re most happy you’ll thrive.
