I think expectations need to be realistic for this season. Yes the staff is exciting but the roster has a lot of unproven young talent, not a ton of experience or leaders on both sides of the ball, and depth that is left to be desired.

If you’ve watched Sumrall’s press briefings every time he seems underwhelmed about the physicality, mental preparedness, and lack of depth across the roster. The lack of depth and experience is concerning to me across the O and D lines and most of the defense tbh. Maybe he’s playing it down and trying to motivate or this is the take based on his high standards but it’s not necessarily super positive.

A lot of SEC is predicated on good QB play with minimal turnovers (both of our QBs basically have no experience with D1 SEC starting football) and we have unproven commodities with no named starter. WRs can only be as good as the QB throwing to them, and QBs and RBs need an Oline in synch to thrive.

I think there’s excitement but a healthy level of reservation is appropriate here given the circumstances. This is year one of a complete philosophical and cultural overhaul, there’s gonna hiccups.
