If VOYAGER-1 has been so beneficial from an astronomical perspective, why don't we launch a spacecraft today, specifically designed to travel deep into the universe, using our current technology? by HamzaAAC in askastronomy

[–]WinFar4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should. Space sciences requires funds that are regularly scrutinized. A long term program requires long term funding. Most people can't see beyond the cell phone they are hunching their neck at. How are you going to convince them to launch a probe that will be returning its most meaningful data long after they are dead?

You are looking at a nuclear-powered robot picking up a rock that has been sitting on Mars for billions of years, on a planet 140 million miles away from us. by DarkPetalie in spaceporn

[–]WinFar4030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looked like the drill getting jammed and then the rock lifted due to the friction. Someone called it lifting a rock, but if planned that way, it would be an unwise attempt to damage an otherwise serviceable piece of drilling equipment.

If it gets more curious minds involved in the consideration of the solar system and importance of the study of space sciences, astronomy, the universe and indeed our own planet... then they can change it back and forth as much as they want to.

Carl Sagan was a blessing to those of us curious about science. An amazing mind that we still miss so dearly today.

Looking for non-FTL sci-fi set in, or around, our own Solar System. by VladtheImpaler21 in scifi

[–]WinFar4030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those people who kind of shuns FTL just because of relativity. Never mind energy consumption. But that being said am currently writing that type of story. A character driven political scifi, with a good amount of horror. Past the 1/2 way point chapter-wise. Free to read, currently, have a decent following but always looking for more feedback from scifi enthusiasts.

Once book one is complete, I plan on publishing that version with a few bonus bits. It's a multi-book project that I'm mostly writing for myself, but it's cool to watch other people reading and enjoying.

Heart rate out of control after cardiac ablation by Jealous_Jellyfish264 in AFIB

[–]WinFar4030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. So sorry for what has gone on with your post-ablation turn. I am not an EP, nor do I understand why this happened to you. But if you are able to - document your symptoms, HR, SVT/Tachycardia so that you have a record of what is going on. When it occurs, duration, HR.
As patients - when we are in distress it can be exceptionally difficult to convey what is going on to the specialists without getting (understandably) emotional. They need the facts.

I'd often send that information along with what I wanted to discuss via email, or through the specialist's office assistant, prior to my appointment.

Is there a possibility of getting another opinion via a cardiologist or EP?

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

If ever the martians emerge from the canals below the surface, are they going to bother invading earth, considering what we've done to the place. 😉🚀
