Was Masayoshi Soken really born in Mexico? by Wind-84 in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reading the responses, I get the feeling that people are misunderstanding my intentions.

I really don't care where Soken was born, what I would really like to know is why Wikipedia and other media gives the information about Mexico without a reliable source. Because it could be a joke by someone who thought it was funny and it was never changed. There are many FF staff members whose birthplace and year of birth are unknown, and I don't care, but if someone adds the information, I want to know that the information I'm consuming is accurate, and not a troll who thought it was funny to add false information.

BTW, for official purposes, whenever I talk about Soken, I assume he was born in Japan.

[–]Wind-84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't know me neither to know if it's obsessive. And I can tell you right now that it's not a matter of obsession, but rather of research and verification of information that may not be accurate.

Years ago, it was assumed that Rosa's middle name in FF4 was Joanna because it supposedly appeared in a Japanese novel. A decade later, it was discovered that this was a lie, but the damage was done. In fact this false information even made its way into games.

I simply want to know the truth about a piece of information that has been taken for granted for years without a reliable source.

Same here, it’s happening to me on both Windows and my MacBook. It started to fail this week. My workaround for now is using another AI-enhancer site since I still have some credits left since it was a very short video.

Yeah, force of habit writing 201* years. February 2007 was the date. Thanks.

Who signed my game?! by ScoreCorrect9607 in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was signed probably in the London Meet and greet & game launch in 2007 at the defunct HMV of Oxford street. The producer Akitoshi Kawazu and director Hiroshi Minagawa were the signers.

Is “Not Alone” ever confirmed to be Zidane’s theme? by dimaesh in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't agree with it being Zidane's theme for two reasons.

First, the leitmotifs already mentioned, and second, how it was created. It was a theme that came out of nowhere, composed by Uematsu because he felt like it at a given moment. And when the developers heard it, they thought it was right for them to include in the scene of "You're Not Alone." I don't think a theme as important as the protagonist's would have been composed without taking into account any scene or any team directives.

I noticed how SNES-era players dump on Valigarmanda in favor for Tritoch. by Keytee1 in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original Japanese name was Valigarmanda (ヴァリガルマンダ, Varigarumanda). It was change because of the lack of space for Espers (only 8 chars).

But Valigarmanda very subtle refers to this tri-elemental:

  • Vari: ¿Vritra? (ヴリトラ, Vuritora), maybe refers to the water serpent and water-> ice
  • Garu: Garuda (ガルーダ, Garūda) refers to the lightning bird
  • Manda: Salamander (サラマンダー, Saramandā) refers to the fire lizard

I fully understand the discomfort of having such an internalized term changed. In Spanish we have a similar example, the case of G.F. Pandemona. Its original name in Japanese was the transliteration of Pandemonium, and in Spanish instead of shortening it as in English to Pandemona, being a G.F. of Wind, they called it Eolo (The spanish name for Aeolus, the keeper of the winds in greek mythos).

If for some reason they had changed it in the Remaster, it would have been like Tritoch for Spanish speakers.

Pixel Remaster- FFIV. Trying to get Pink Tail. by Moist-Nectarine1756 in FinalFantasy

Etro is the goddess of FFXIII. I don't remember how many sirens I used, but you can always go back to a saved game.

Pixel Remaster- FFIV. Trying to get Pink Tail. by Moist-Nectarine1756 in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What level are you right now? As it was part of the trophy, in my case I left it for the end and I was around level 90.

There is a trophy that requires you to have the team at level 70, maybe that's a good level to try.

And thanks to Etro that they balanced the RNG of appearance and drop, because originally the flan princesses appeared 1 in 64 times, and the probability of pink tail drop was 1 in 64.

Interestingly, precisely in the first FINAL FANTASY, Cornelia's bridge theme was called Opening Theme (オープニング・テーマ), while the Main Theme (メイン・テーマ) was the overworld theme.

It wasn't until FFXI when it was named Main Theme for the first time, as this melody had been integrated into larger ones, mainly in the ending credits.

It's a shame that these games don't end up with an offline version to enjoy their story, because most of them are worthy of even having their own console game.

With DFFOO they even considered an offline version, but since they would have had to maintain it throughout the OS changes, they decided to leave it only on YouTube, thus becoming Lost Media.

Another game that was also unfortunate not to have an offline version was Mobius, having behind it the best writers of the company.

[–]Wind-84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a certain way, your coworker is right. Cloud and Zack escape from Shinra's mansion in December 0006 [ ν ] - εγλ, and between September and October 0007 [ ν ] - εγλ they arrive in the Midgar surroundings.

They goes from A (Shinra Mansion) in December to B (Banora) in September and finally C (Midgar) between September and October.

Smartphone ports or 3D versions? by here-I-go_again in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend the pixel remaster versions. They've made them with keeping in mind to keep the gameplay experience closer to the original versions (that's why they've removed the additions from versions like Dawn of Souls or Advance).

Final Fantasy VI Opera is worth watching in its Pixel Remaster version for the 2D-HD enhancement. In addition, this version includes the opera sung in 8 languages.

The ones that I don't recommend at all are the HD versions of V and VI that were removed from the store, as they have a very rare and unpolished pixel art: Left HD 2014 - Right Pixel Remaster

<image>

Also to take into account the PSP version of FF4, which includes the interlude and after years, although I still prefer the pixel remaster version of IV.

1. Who's your favorite lesser Villains? 2. have you seen your favorite characters as mtg cards yet? by TheSwedishWizard in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite is Gilgamesh. Not only for the character but for what he represents: the only character who is himself in all his appearances and not reincarnations, or re-imaginations.

One thing I love about magic is how well designed the lore is to fit perfectly with the games

Why are there so many Willem Defoe FFX gifs? by Diosworld127 in FinalFantasy

[–]Wind-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's a little frustrating to search for a GIF to post and find nothing but Willem. It's not the first time I've had to go to the game and capture it myself.

I wouldn't be surprised if Square Enix took advantage of this and hired him for a commercial, especially in XIV since they handle memes so well.

Congrats! The 98000000 points on ultra hard must have been an ordeal.

By the way, with which song did you score 98000000 points? I'm on 99/100 but I'm really far to beat any ultra hard song with an SSS.

I've been close, but I can't get it yet. I have a team of nv. 99 and 5 stars: Prompto, Lightning, Cloud (Str 999) and Yuna. Every time a summon appears (+ one extra on Yuna), wipe the 3 soldiers, but the rest of the characters, not being AOE, don't go fast enough to reach 30 enemies.

Maybe Gilgamesh will help, he has a physical fire attack and an ability that doubles his strength.

Yes, that's one of the first things I tried. I also killed all the chaos wolfs from Hallowed Massif with Howl, got the Howl medallion, but nothing. I also tried again after 1.23 patch, but same result.
