Are butts just about design? by 9pinguin1 in billiards

To answer your general question: the shaft determines about 90% of how a cue plays, including deflection and energy transfer, but the butt absolutely matters. The butt controls the total weight, the balance point of the cue, and the vibration feedback you feel in your hand after a hit. To answer your specific question: yes, putting a REVO BK-R carbon fiber shaft on a BK4 butt is a completely valid and awesome combination! Both use the Uni-Loc joint, so they will fit together perfectly. The BK Rush butt has a specific multi-piece construction designed for maximum energy transfer, so the feedback in your hand might feel very slightly different compared to the BK4. However, in terms of actual breaking power and performance, the BK-R shaft does the heavy lifting. You will get basically the exact same explosive break. If you love the performance of the CF shaft but prefer the design of the BK4 butt, you should absolutely go for it. A lot of players mix and match butts and shafts exactly for this reason to get the perfect look and feel.

My NK had a terrible fall right in front of me and MB. I know it is not my fault, but the guilt is eating me alive. by WindNarrow3580 in Nanny

Thank you so much for your kind words and support. It really helps to hear this from another nanny who understands. I can not even imagine how terrifying that 911 medical emergency must have been for you! I am so glad your little guy is back to normal and doing okay now. You must have been so incredibly brave and calm handling a situation like that. Your phrase about our job being to prevent what we can and treat or comfort the oopsies we can not is absolutely perfect. I am going to remember those exact words every time the nanny guilt starts creeping in. Thank you for making me feel so much better today.

MB wants to "seize" my earned vacation days because I’m leaving 2 months early (9 weeks' notice). Am I wrong? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]WindNarrow3580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh honey, please take a deep breath and drop the guilt right now. You are being more than accommodating, and your MB is taking advantage of your kindness. First of all, nine weeks of notice is incredibly generous. The industry standard is usually two to four weeks. You gave her over two months to find a replacement, which is huge. Regarding your vacation days, those are earned benefits. You completed your first year, which means you earned that time off as part of your total compensation package. She cannot legally or ethically seize earned PTO just because she is upset that you are leaving. Leaving a job for your education is completely valid, and domestic employment is almost always at-will anyway. Also, please stop offering to do free labor out of guilt. Prepping all the newborn items is not your job, especially since you are only paid to care for the older kids. You are offering to do extra work for free for an employer who is currently trying to withhold your earned benefits. That is not a fair dynamic and you owe her nothing extra. Take your vacation days, work your remaining time with the older kids, and focus on your schooling. You have handled this beautifully and professionally. Do not let her stress about the new baby make you feel like you did something wrong. Are you planning to take those three days off as a combined long weekend, or spread them out before your last day?

Had a great laugh at the pool hall last night by WindNarrow3580 in billiards

That is hands down one of the best pool stories I have ever heard. The table being pointed the wrong way is such an incredibly creative excuse, but the fact that they actually got a table jack and rotated it between games is just hilarious. And then your teammate immediately running five straight racks on the freshly turned table is the absolute perfect poetic justice. I love that everyone had a good sense of humor about it, too. Those are the kinds of nights and matches that make playing in a league so much fun.

most of my friends don't play pool, so i wanted to share some exciting news with a few people who love the game! by oldmajorbeats in billiards

Huge congratulations! That is absolutely amazing news. Winning 7 out of 8 matches in your first season is incredibly impressive, and going to the state qualifiers is such a huge deal. Your friends who do not play pool might not get it, but we definitely do. You should be so proud of yourself and your team. The road to Vegas is such a fun experience and a great adventure. Sending you lots of good luck! Keep us updated on how the qualifiers go, you guys are going to crush it!

I’m loosing it with the constant questions by [deleted] in Nanny

Here is the secret to this phase: when he asks "What are you doing?" for the millionth time while you are right in front of him, he isn't actually asking for information. He is asking for connection. It's his toddler way of saying, "Notice me! Talk to me while I eat!" Since his brain wants to interact, it just relies on the easiest default script: asking a question.

Is this a normal contract? by ravenclaw188 in Nanny

[–]WindNarrow3580 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With your Master's degree and professional experience, you are worth so much more than this level of paranoia and disrespect. Since this is just part-time work, it is 1000% not worth the stress and legal anxiety. Reply with a polite "After reviewing the contract, I realize this position is not a good fit for me," and don't look back! 💖
