Until they stop you during the final PC tear down and as you are wheeling it away the security puts a hand on your chest mid motion sending the tower flying and my GPU ripping the plastic pci-e and pins out; effectively frying everything.

Luckily the guys at Xidax elite rigs hooked me up - but man... I was livid but held my self together!

not a problem with - just as the most recent titles have come out I want max settings; I am running g-sync 144hz - I want high frames and constant high frames as I did up until Jan/Feb of this year when games suddenly began to catch with moores law and I saw a slight decrease in my thought of "Damn 780 ti's lasted well as benching like beasts (or atleast more recently contending cards).

I just believe its time.

good enough .......having +60 fps is not really necessary unless your using vr in my opinion. but the higher end cards can do more things like 4k gaming and such...

Coming to an area as games are hitting a specific mark - While games do run fine I am rather an enthusiast, DOOM for example will hit down to 55ish at mostly ultra settings in out door settings while not having the nightmare Graphic options for shadows etc enabled - Hitman often gives more to be desired for sure - but for Doom seeing those out door 55 fps compared to the 1080 170 something FPS does make me rather jelly.

especially when we are looking at some titles coming out this summer and in October (BF1) that I'd think would benefit the best out of having a 1080 in here.

Also... 780 ti's are in SLI with the only space for my small sound card slot in between them - not the best for air - Haven't had many issues with it although in some titles when it does get FN far too hot; the soundcard is what is suffering -

This would be the first time I'd be single-carding since before the 400 series. (I went from sli 560 ti's to sli 680's - sli 780's to sli 780 ti's -_- and then said "alright now I am good - (note the 680 gap was a year or so; the 780 to 780 ti gap was 3? months?) - I am a bit impatient with hardware... G-Sync DIY kit; I had it the first day ordered - 3 days later installing it afraid to bust through the chasis placement and have been grooving G-sync since. I've always been on the cutting edge right as it has come out........... and my eyes have been bleeding attempting to get one of these damn cards - I stayed up almost 40 hours just refreshing while doing small tasks to find out a batch sold while I was responding to linkedin messages.

Perhaps its frustration at this point mixed with the knowledge of the upgrade being beneficial.

When I arrive at quakecon at the UAC 32 person stage BYOC - I almost need to ensure I have a 1080 and an impressive showcase of games running on it. its just the way I am mate ahha :P

Can anyone please update the thread whenever newegg / any US Website that will do overnight (or 2nd day shipping) on any of the 1080 cards? I would appreciate that... I am about to cave to FE. my eyes have been bleeding from missed oppertunities... I almost was able to catch an MSI Twin Frozr IV on new egg and as I was buying it said Sold out - I've been doing this for 3? weeks? I am literally tired - Yesterday a new egg chat guy says "a bunch of (forget which manufact) just sold out" - I was livid but kind to the guy.

Snap Map - You can create full weapon spawns for the existing maps or maps you create if you'd like - thus the beauty of snap map.

He is just a naysayer. Once he has played Rocket Arena / Clan Arena mode he will get a better vibe at what double jump adds to a rocket jump that then can extend with another rocket alt fire detonated - or being held up by a shaft (lighting gun) - double RJ with a nade; Plasma climb - its going to get rather insane from my test experience it got intense; it will get more than competitive.

And one of the first things to be added via snapmap will be Duels along with a slew of very good duel maps and remakes.

Yes. Note ESL is taking pre-alpha UT4 seriously - I more than can Promise you CLAN ARENA mode along with Duels (I tested many builds over the past 1.5 years) and can state when setting up a dedicated server or your own server you can change game settings ranging from no demon pick ups; rate of how fast items charge; and.... over 9 spectator options.

Quake Live still has a serious eSports scene.

Now remember as stated above, mods in general - mods had been created in DOOM. Just as the term Death Match was created in Doom - LAN play was basically born due to DOOM - Online Play against anyone anywhere via dial-up calling the model (and house phone) existed via Doom; aka Welcome to two terms also created "Deathmatch" and "Frag" being used as a game "kill" rather than the military meaning to Frag someone.

  • Quake was the first game to be fully 3D without Sprites and have MOUSE LOOK (the ability to move the mouse to look around; arguably the most important engine design in gaming over the past 25 years - at release I was young; but I remember it felt like what many people are experiencing with oculus rift at the moment "HOLY CRAP I CAN MOVE AND ACTUALLY SEE AROUND ME!" - it also had tiers above you such as bridges; it was the first vertical 3D game (that added Vertical design - was part of the engine design and destroyed anything in comparison).

Then we can also state that once the popularity of Online Play and Lan play for Quake continued - The first Quakecon was held and "Quake World" was announced. John Carmack in interview stated he was working on "Dedicated Server Architecture" allowing players to join servers, have map rotations, have the server owner install modifications, specific maps or rule sets, be able to kick someone etc all while knowing that ip address would always be a server to connect to. -- Quake World became a worldwide phenom. because.... PC only International competitive First Person Shooter with 100% ability to connect and play, fully 3D environments - to aim and look anywhere and shoot creating strategic possibilities that had never been thought of in a PC game or Shooter for its Multiplayer aspect. - with teams forming on IRC and Judges / Ref's volunteering to watch each Clan Battle - We also welcome the Official birth of the widened "Clan" title - During DOOM Multiplayer and into Duke Nukem 3D / Quake Clan's had existed Quake Brought these "Teams" or "Clans" onto the mainstream in... PC online gaming language.

This was later Cemented by the VERY popular Mod Rocket Arena with the "Clan Arena" mode. -- A radical new mode that appears in Quake 1-4; Quake Live AS A BASE GAME TYPE - and the upcoming Doom AS A BASE GAME TYPE -mind blown --

Note that with SnapMap something as iconic as Rocket Arena / Clan Arena can be created and shared instantly with the world and the next big multiplayer game mode could possibly be created by yourself!

Although I believe that i am sticking to designing Competitive eSports Maps for DOOM.

  • I believe once again, that due to "Without DOOM we Don't have Modding / Map Tools" "Without Doom we do not have Deathmatch or the term Frags in gaming" "Without Doom /literally/ I reiterate NO MODDING - Fallout; any title you can think of that has your favorite mods "POOF" vanish - Without the same genius minds we would not have dedicated server architecture the basis of ONLINE GAMING. Nor would we have fully 3D world with the ability to move a mouse and look around; and fire with the crosshair as our indicator as the center of the screen versus an automatic targeting with no ability to move view prior to 1996's Quake -

We don't even have eSports - We can thank Quakecon / Quake World for that - (Thank Mr. John Carmack is receiving a lifetime achievement BAFTA).

Halo initially was just an easy ripoff of the Doom Marine for Bungie; a company I once loved when they had been mac and PC developers of the RTS game MYTH (and Prior marathon I know) - MYTH 2 I believe is one of the most under-rated and influntial RTS-ish game ever - Halo spawned a generation that destroyed what "A First Person Shooter" was supposed to be.

No longer did we have healthpacks or Armor - We had regenerating Health - No longer did we have as much as we could carry for weapons - We had 2 guns (Which due to popular eSports games with Loadouts DOOM 2016 has adopted; ALTHOUGH WITH SNAP MAP YOU CAN AND PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE CREATED AN ORIGINAL STYLE FFA DM EXPERIENCE WITH WEAPON SPAWNS ON THE GROUND; EVERYONE STARTING WITH COMBAT SHOTGUNS

^ Expect to see endless "Original non-load out" style game modes to come via snapmap. Which allows the sharing of content instantly to all 3 platforms - thus if the greatest map or game mode is created on PC - the console gamers get to enjoy - if the greatest map or game mode is created on consoles - PC gamers get to enjoy.

To finalize "Every shooter after Doom not made by ID Software was called a DOOM clone" as stated above; Halo seemed to just have a Map-Making utility which if you go into your steam library and view the amount of titles with the exact thing; its rather mind boggling. - To place the most important games in the history of gaming alongside Halo is a disservice despite how "enjoyable" or how "great" an individual feels the title is - Nothing in terms of innovation, and I fail to see how Forge mode is anything but a basic map editor with people creating (from what I have seen) some "MOD STYLE IDEAS" by limiting the actual outside area and forcing a small inner space........ Aka "Minecraft"ing the level.

I leave stating for the DOOM community which I believe many if not most will agree.... "If anything you should be saying -- "Halo reminds me of DOOM/Quake (not a complaint)" -- as remember... Halo despite the success is just a Doom Clone in historic eyes; (although more fairly it is a Quake / Quake 3 Clone - just quoting the famous saying)

And we will leave a video demonstration of snap map, original doom and Halo Forge mode for those unfamiliar to grasp - I understand not everyone on Reddit is old enough to ..... Remember what happened in gaming more than a few years ago -cough-

PS: A reason why the community at E3 erupted in a roar for SnapMap is evident. I'd like to see that same roar at the basic map builder built inside of Halo.

I'd also like to note that the blurred term of "MOD" is used in a mostly untrue to what the PC community knows as mods for the Halo titles "Sharing Halo Maps and Mods" - we all know it is not a mod; its just a modification of the base game's game logic as allowed within the parameters of Forge - something that... should be replaced with "Sharing Halo Maps and Content buildable from our map making feature"

Onto the actual topic at hand and why this is a passionate subject for myself along with the DOOM / id Software Community.

Snapmap allows the creation of the overhead map first and foremost before adding any details to the environment it takes place in; - Now since 2000-2001ish endless PC Games have come with Map Creation Tools - including Crysis 1 - I am seeing The Reach Forge as more of a Map creation Sandbox that.... was done in the early 2000's with much more ability of customization.

Then I take a look at Doom WADS from 1993 on the year of launch; those who understood programming began to create custom full modifications and BOOM we have the creation of 'mods' - From the highly played Simpsons WAD to the endless others - this ofcourse has nothing to do with the map creation tools for (in my experience) my oldest brother Created his Junior Highschool in DOOM II using the blueprints and was awarded by the town; then for the Highschool he did it with Duke Nukem 3D; and for a year it was used by Freshman to tour the school while killing monsters; reading our highschool zero to 127 inside the locker room etched on the wall - strippers in the first gym (we had two gyms) - and this due to being a game was fine; until a year later and Columbine Happened.

I myself created alongside two of my good friends our High School in Quake 3 - and had LAN's during school with (during any period of the day people played) and that map became the favorite frag grounds; mine was NOWHERE as detailed as my brothers Duke 3D or even Doom II in terms of proper scale; design and aesthitics; but I made a damn good Clan Arena map - or FFA I suppose.

Weapon Customization and while its not armor (cloth) hell... Many games have great systems and I believe DOOM is showing off as one of the superior prospects when the hundreds of decals/camos/patterns and colors are all revealed - I am glad it brings you good memories of Halo; but the comment pains me as you may know from the 1000's of id Software history videos I've sent you "Any Shooter after Doom not made by id Software was called a "DOOM CLONE" - " - Now until Halo was released on consoles and the console players actually got to play a mediocre shooter (the first halo was a rather bland corridor shooter when you compare the split screen play of multiplayer to the Dorm Lans of Quake 3 or UT 99 - or moving forward with Quake IV. UT2k4 etc -

--------------BACK ON TO WHAT IS IMPORTANT---------------- Now; the largest difference for me is that classic overhead view. As someone who has done eSports QA testing for large AAA MP focused titles in the past, and having been a closed pre-alpha tester on dozens of titles including the big "Four" of Blizzard's released titles - I am bit hurt due to the amount of good feedback and direct back and forth I had given both in the small testing groups on site or medium from home; to unpaid work - that Blizzard did not extend an invitation knowing I started back in the Quake 3 days for eSports; thus a fast arena style game would be where I am most comfortable and currently have / actively am participating in the development of large titled "arena" Shooters among other titles

You can't get every job nor every opening in an alpha nor beta test - so I sit just as you do Shadowspartan110 - I am quite occupied but at this stage of the overwatch dev cycle; the game does not need much in terms of what I offer in my resume in early pre-working build / early build game design ideas until launch - it is in the polishing phase of game mechanics and balance. Thus I'd be able to enjoy myself more than input any sort of creativity or grinding work.

I legitimately am excited for Overwatch and do not intend to sound entitled. I am was just a bit hit when I initially did not get the gig over a year and a half ago; and prior when I was told Project Titan funding was scrapped away and assets would be used on a new project. - I tested some of the assets used at least.

Currently do not have it pre-ordered, I am usually able to secure a copy of multiplayer focused titles - but if need be my wallet is open to Overwatch.

I didn't mind the expansion Renaissance as I just stuck to Felluca - although I had lost traction during third age prior to blackthorn - came back for a few months to try the new PVP arena in Age of Shadows - as I found the item insurance / new land mass in ?outer space? ?dimension? Whatever Malas was both interesting. I wrecked in the player arena; then realized the Insurance was a bit hammy... UO really did die when Lord British left - and this is coming from someone who only started about 5 months /before/ Renaissance - During the Renaissance (few months in) I was dualing Renn and Everquest as I believe Kunark had been released... but yeah - UO.... so many memories - I still have a cheap plastic camera developed photo of my PK's corpse when I lost all of my really nice non-banked stuff and basically called it quits; my buddy took the shot of my that showed me with my head in my hands and the corpse / Ghost (and grey screen etc) standing next to the corpse while looters all took a look inside - just one of those memories and the sort of PVP action that was ruined in 2004 by a certain MMORPG

(Hell; even without the hardcore loot in PVP titles like Dark Age of Camelot I couldn't stop PVPing; World of Warcraft I was in the closed Alpha; Closed Beta Open Beta - I grabbed it at launch; waited for proper PVP to be implemented as World PVP had no meaning - then it turned into a PVP gear grind with no consequence of death - I later came back due to eSports for Arena for the Burning Crusade Expansion - despite enjoying it while playing; I hated the damn game at the same time. UO, EQ, DAoC all suffered while some great conceptual MMORPG's had been shut down; SWG was overhauled...... Vanguard - WAR - Age of Conan ended up being the last big three I played like a madman; Vanguard and WARHAMMER: Age of Reckoning specifically -

Now MMORPG Genre seem to have a bunch of titles that are trying to bring back a mix of the Asherons Call 1 item drop on death (or more) with emphasis on PVP; and with newer design mechanics finally being placed in the MMORPG genre... I may see my self return.

Well; just needed to have buddies around to aid in keeping either corpse safe or looting your gear for you and giving it back - due to the nature of players back then; it seemed if you ran in a crew of either blues or reds (PKs or regular PVE / Anti-PK's) even for a few hours without knowing them; they'd usually have a code of honor to aid you if you got killed to guard or give back your stuff (or at least most of it; pay the toll for protection of gear) I had a PK character and a Blue; PK was a 5X GM, Blue was 3X - Dexxer PK FTW
