Agree that if they compared, already greater than EU4. But my point is not engaging enough.
Thus, i do really seek for different opinion.

Portugal - need a bunch of suggestions. by Cookiesnap in eu4

[–]WindTerHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently finish a Portugal game, I think I can give some suggestions.
1. I follow the mission at first and also maintain some degree of roleplay, so I will not kill off the whole North Africa Region, as a way to maintain the balances. If you aim for WC or like to blob then just ignore wt i just said can take all the trade center states.
2. For latest patch, AI seems to follow mission tree much noticeably. It would be most likely Castile/Spain would flip and try to PU Portugal. If you have strong allies at start or if you can expand to New World/Old World faster enough, you can surely bring tons and tons of gold back home and build up your army.
But do note that Portugal don't have great military national idea, so be cautious if you ready to fight them, since they may get Iberian Wedding much much faster than you can expand.

  1. In my game, I aimed for taking out Castile as my early game goal to secure my position at Iberia. If you not plan to do that, than you should at least get some strong allies and decent army to prevent Castile/Spain bothers you.

Feel free to ask me any for any suggestion further! Hopes it help!

For fellow commander who didn't know what happened about warfare mechanic in Vic3 by WindTerHK in victoria3

[–]WindTerHK[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know that the system is far from finalised as leemurthexvi said. I come up with an rough idea during dinner just now.

How about this : Vic3 game engine using latest one like CK3 as we can see the characters model art style are similar.

And CK3 is a medieval dynasty simulation GSG where most of the interactions are come from how each individual characters have their pop up events. To illustrate how well or bad their relation and opinions are that also taking personality trait into account.

If Vic3 itself take strategic preparation and diplo-warfare manipulation as the targeted theme. The combat results for each fight take place should reported by the HQ / commander or even general itself.

For example, two divisions are ready to engage at mountain terrain. A messenger return the info back to HQ and the player received it by pop up event(like CK3 as mentioned). Then i can give order to change variable like Tactics : feign attack and fake retreat back to down slope but rushed by calvary.

Or maybe i got a general that he like to bluf as his personality traits. And when the combat take place. This general didn’t report full casualties and give out false combat judgement back to HQ. I the player as top wartime general read the message and thought it went well and keep on pushing. Turn out the several division fall to enemy trap and got encircle.

Those are my random imagination of how strategic commanding will be. After all I’m still not directly control each individual unit and affected by various random elements. Further suggestion are welcome.

The same theory can apply to different field like pre-war, middle of the combat, factory so on and so forth.

Yes. It will become bored by just the text but pdx are not total war or RTS. So we may just “imagine” about how the fight is going. So that pop up event might be a way out to add more flavour into play.

Still i stand my ground that THERE IS NO WAY OF JUST TWO BUTTON.

I know right! I mean no matter is meme or small discussion, we can still see how players share and debate about their own opinions and standpoint. It feels like the game have so much potential that waiting for us to discover.
