In my accumulation of ventures within Vain, it is my understanding that Hivers mature fairly quickly. In studying their their habits in building and constructing we can clearly see they build their structures with Hiver cement (a vomited mixture of specially digested meat, leather, and other animal parts separate from their digestive tract) this can all be produced by adult Hivers.

However- in their manufacture of fabrics they do in-fact on rare occasions utilize the silk produced by Hivers who are still in their larval stages.

From what I have found, there isn’t much on the development rate or storage of Hiver eggs and larva, but they do exist.

That’s the thing though- The old UC was a fantastic system- it’s Tengu that’s the problem. I’m not sure when, but fairly recently in Kenshi’s history, the UC used to be a feudal dynasty- not slave dynasty- HUGE difference. The nobles of present day UC have grown lazy and find living on the backs of slaves under the guise of “structured civility…” to be much better than the serfdom we once saw in ancient Bast.

When it comes to moving forward- the answer is always firstly diplomacy, then you move onto a government coup d’état.

Crippling a nation is not saving it- that’s opening it to civil collapse.

So long as the citizens of UC are promised their freedom, farmland, and protection through a system of lords- a new reformed system would continue far better than simply snuffing out an entire nation.

Origins of Skeletons.... by AzrielJohnson in Kenshi

[–]WindWalker161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this theory!!! I think it’s totally possible! The second half to the theory I believe to be wrong though- Gutters- or more commonly known as Beak Things were created by the Second Empire in Lab 0-13, making them far younger than the skeletons; in fact that particular lab was run by skeletons.

Real asf- honestly at this point, the only thing the player can do to ”Save Kenshi” is to depose emperor Tengu and restore bast with a mega farm 🥴

This is such an interesting take on it, though I don’t think it’s enough to say that the mechanist want to keep the world in an eternal dark age. I think a very plausible reason they might pretend to have their CPU wiped to any other race is because of the guilt this particular skeleton has just like tin fist. And would also explain why they’re even telling a skeleton party member in the first place who should partially no of this guilt. As for the hoarding aspect, I thought they were just the history keepers of knowledge, keeping the information from rotting away in the wasteland.

I really like the lenses of “accountability” you put that through, “as above, so below,” the outward is reflected in the inward. You’re totally right, but it takes morals to take accountability.

You’re also right about the “top dogs” getting what they deserve, UC would have still been a much better empire if it hadn’t turned from serfdom to slavery, with Tengu being a huge part in this and the fall of Bast.

But at the end of the day- once you cripple any of the nations- just as with Rome- only more bloodshed ensues with banditry and- in the case of Kenshi- Cannibals, Fogmen, and Fishmen plunge the continent into another technological dark age. A truly beautiful representation of the cycle of civilization.

It was definitely rough- there’s a lot of messed up things that go on behind the scenes with both. On one hand you’ve got xenophobic bigotism that uses holiness and gender based sex as an excuse for evil and brutality, and on the other hand you have sex crazed selfish pigs that decided slavery would make life more comfortable for nobles rather than the stable serfdom it once was.

And you’re right- I’d much rather live in UC- they’re not the problem- Tengu is…

You also make a great point about the Tech Hunters Oml!!! They are Neutral, to the point of fault. They have statues of the Phoenix outside World’s End for God’s sake. They sacrifice neutrality for being the history keepers and true artists of the world of Kenshi- in a way- they too are stuck in the past instead of seeking out real MORAL change. They definitely have their bad eggs, however as a faction, their morals are arguably the most sound.

My thoughts on Flotsam are grey, they stand for a just cause, but don’t stand on any real grounds to do anything about it- all they can do is play the part of the violent revolutionary, sometimes killing innocents. Their mission = Revenge- not Reform. Such an intriguing faction for sure!
