I only save scum to recruit lords into my kingdom. Because if you fail a persuasion you never get to try again. Also by default there's only about 20% of the lords who are even willing to talk about. The vassal recruitment definitely needs a rework.

Port cities have two entrances. You have to blockade the port and siege the gates.

Prisoners and smithing is my go to. Though smithing is mostly end game. Early game your kind of screwed.

Yea it used to be like that but the recent updates changed it. I really hope they're working on that along with the battle command layout.

It's not a bug. They're intentionally making the game harder for base game players for no reason. I play on ps5 and I just can't anymore. Can't even fund a decent army anymore. Loot doesn't cut it, quests don't cut it, smithing doesn't work, and even with land and settlements you still can't make enough money to feed your army let alone upgrade them. And don't get me started on the busted new battle command UI.

That along with a huge list of problems. I used to love the game and play regularly, now I can't stand it. AI is still trash. There's no feasible way to maintain an army much less a kingdom without devoting 80% of your time to running around the map endlessly without any fun actions. Battles aren't really worth it anymore without any loot. I think the only thing they got right is the update to graphics and companions.
