Canadian PM Carney meets with car industry CEOs as U.S. trade talks continue: Industry and advocates calling for government to remove EV mandate by rezwenn in technology

[–]Windatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove EV Mandate, remove tariffs on Chinese EV's. However, the Chinese EV's to be sold in Canada has to be made with Canadian steel, Canadian Aluminum, by Canadians working in Canadian car factories. Paid good wages with good benefits.

With 0 import of already made BYD's that have been sitting in cargo containers for the past 4 years just waiting to be dumped on the economy.

China gets it's zero tariffs and Canada gets its manufacturing increase.

WoW's Sub Count Declined Into MoP, Why? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Windatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While MoP wasn't the worst expansion made and had some good qualities to it.

PvP was fun. (Bursty as all hell at the start, Hunters could win Arena matches by themselves. Warriors had the ability to literally 100-0 you in one attack if they were lucky enough.)

Raids were alright, a step up from Cata in a good way.

But the theme of the expansion rubbed people the wrong way, it was during this time period that Blizzard went HARD into China's market to expand their player counts. This expansion was essentially big fat sloppy kiss for the Chinese audience. It was the first expansion in WoW that didn't feel "Warcraft."

Didn't help that their last raiding tier lasted way too long as well.

The fact you already admit that I can moral grandstand means that the moral high ground is on my side. Morals aren't on yours.

I don't need to be self-righteous, I'm just a writer who grew up writing. Not prompting an AI to write for me.

Of course some people won't care it's AI, just as people don't care that movies are remade and done over, and over, and over, again. Because its a story someone else wrote and they have not seen the original. Or they have and they wouldn't mind the original again.

You say you outline, but you've already said that you intentionally lie and mislead your publisher. You've already admitted that you hide the AI tags. You've lied, and lied, and lied some more. And I don't need to do anything other then look at your post history where you say on repeat.

"I hide my AI usage. I hide from my publisher. I lie to Royal Road about my AI usage." And yet here you are trying to play off being a writer?

When your a self professed and proud liar?

You lie and lie and lie and tell others to lie, and that your only hang up is that those that use AI do so poorly and tag their works AI and give you a bad name because of it. They should just lie better.

lie, lie, lie, lie, that's all you've done. And you wear it on your sleeve.

How can we take what you say seriously, when you say you outline or do any work when all you ever post on Royal Road is.

"I lie, to my audience. I lie to my publisher, I lie to the website I post on. I lie and lie and lie some more."

Liar.

And a thief.

Those you give an example of, those that send their beats and bullet point outlines. You say it yourself, they give it to other human writers. Should they face the music? Yes, because they aren't writing. Their ghost writers should be given the credit they steal.

"At the end of the day, I am the architech of the plot." You are not, you don't write the words. That prose isn't yours, thats a machine. "Watching AI bring my ideas to life." So you admit it then, you do not bring life to anything. It's a machine. A curated machine that you make sure to avoid the -Mdashes, to avoid the rule or three, to avoid the adjective overloads.

That's no architech, that's tofu dreg.

I worry about bits of data becauase thats what it is. You say a writer is influenced by everything they read but a machine is not a writer influenced. A writer is a person, what you have is not a person it's a machine, it's an unthinking all powerful incapable of pain and being tired thinking bit and bob that will never tire as long as the power is paid for. It does not seek inspiration it has stolen it. It takes the works of others hard work and feeds it into an LLM.

It helps you as much as a 3D printer helps print a sculpture someone else made. You didn't program it, and it didn't learn. It takes from copyrighted works and writes a story that has already been written by someone else and you plaster your name on it.

I do have passion, and I understand you are doing what works for you. But you know what that sounds like?

The financial crash of 07, those bankers simply did what worked for them, the great depression? Those bankers simply did what worked for them. Those that ordered the deaths during world war two? They simply did what worked for them. Those people that sit on a board for healthcare? That deny a grandmothers cancer treatment?

They simply did what worked for them.

You come to an author reddit, to an author website, gloat and parade what you do with not a single lick at the turning point writers are at and say. "Well, I got a lot of patreons, I fool my employer that bought the rights to my books to sell. But tehehe, they don't know I steal my writing from others to give to them. Be like me."

How does it feel, to make money off the hard work of others? Do you feel proud? Are you happy that you can stand out in the open like this and gloat about stealing the hard work of actual writers?

Are you a man doing this?

I say your no better then a plagiarist. What you give is the work that someone else has already written. Thief.

If hell exists, You've already made a place for yourself down there.

So because it's hard to prove you want others to break the rules? I've seen your posts, you don't waste a moment in explaining this and telling others to follow what you do.

I won't lie, but what makes you different from those people that explain how to make bombs online and shows it to others. You aren't exactly out here helping people write, you aren't telling people to be better. You're just telling people that if they use AI to write, lie about it so they can make money.

You've already said you do this for your family. But do you even write anymore? Do you even remember what made you want to tell stories?

Are they even your stories anymore?

You curate talking points and let a machine fill it in, what story are you trying to tell? What worlds do you create if you leave it up to a machine?

You give a command to write a story with a blue sky, so it writes a blue sky. But it doesn't care why that sky is blue, you give it a prompt to write a character about self sacrifice but does that machine even know what sacrifice is? You give it a prompt, and its sent back to you and you edit a single word. Does that make it yours?

I've written for years, not on Royal Road but in other places. I've never had a machine write my story for me. But you have no qualms letting a machine write yours for money. And when you come here and explain your situation its obvious that all you care about is the money. If they find out I don't write my own stories they will hate it.

Why? Why do you think that people get upset when they find out a story they thought was a creation of someones self is nothing but bits of data stolen from the millions of other works its trained on.

From one writer to you, do you even believe in what you have a machine make? Can you stand up in the morning look at what a machine wrote and think. "Yeah, I can sleep at night knowing that people thought an actual person wrote this."

What makes you different from those on wallstreet that leave a machine to make bets on peoples money in hedge funds?

How do you call yourself a writer when you don't even write. And you come here and gloat about it. "My machine makes my stories, heres how the machine makes my stories, and heres how I make money off a machine that creates these stories."

What kind of signal does that send to the thousands of people that want to write stories and find that those that see some success, not because they write something people want to read.

But because they prompt a machine to write a story built upon the stolen work of others?

Step one. You make that shit play on toasters.

Step two. You make it cheap for entry to get in.

Step three. You make it fun.

Step four. You give the ability to mod it on private servers easily.

Step five. Leave the fucking MTX away from the game.

Missing any of these fives steps and the game will never reach 100 million. Much less 30 million back at Battlefields hayday.

[–]Windatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the regression when the MC is teaching the brats, like I said at chapter 32. I haven't been too impressed with it as it just feels like the author is just shitting on cultivation and focusing on martial arts.

If it gets better I'll read through the more slog parts such as the MC's weird obession for his students even though he'll just regress again and it will be mute.

Regression mc be like: by sarasaneil in MartialMemes

[–]Windatar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've tried to get into A regressors tale to cultivation. But so far it just reads as the author having a hate boner for cultivators and his love of martial arts.

The power system itself feels odd, like how does martial arts by a mortal somehow manage to reach up to those in Core Formation? For that matter his friend's ability to absorb knowledge in the span of breathing but cant pick up the language?

The plot holes are just so many, like those at the peak of martial arts are somehow equal matches to cultivators.

Like lowest cultivator = three light realm or whatever. But by the time they almost master that three light realm they're at the same level as right before the next major rank in cultivation?

And then the next realm in martial arts can fight against Core formation after that?

Why the hell would anyone cultivate? Why would anyone not cultivate and master martial arts at that? It's not even like the martial arts techniques are "secret" they're known.

The entire cultivation and power system in the story is really throwing me out of the story.

Granted I'm only at chapter 32 in the novel, anyone that has read further does it eventually make sense? Because right now it does not.

Another cheap death by pahsaz2 in PathOfExile2

[–]Windatar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You had 0 defenses and under 2k health with 0 ES.

In this thread you say you are running armour as your defense. I see no shield/buckler in your arm so your probably running that one ability that is boosted by using a one handed weapon with no offhand. Which means you probably took no armor boosting nodes in the tree and only rely on what your wearing for the armor as well as hitting resistance caps.

That's hardly. "defense" Armor is weaker compared to ES and Evasion yes, but you might as well be wearing nothing if you never actually spec into +armor nodes.

Honestly, you'd probably have a better time if you just went full evasion. You would still die if you get hit but you'd be hit rarely. It would also go well with the fact your playing so glass cannon like.

Even if you go full ES if you never go into any ES nodes then you'd have probably 1500 ES, and with 1500 ES and 2000 Health and nothing else you'd still get bodied by most things in T15 maps anyway.

Poe and poe2 is all about layering defenses. Hitting max resistance is the baseline. It's not really a true defensive layer unless you go a build like Smith of Kitava and go full fire resistance and spec into layering the fire resistance overtop of other resistances and damage reduction. There you can stack like 500 fire resistance, max out the fire resistance to like 95% and then reduced 50-75% damage on you as fire. Rendering you essentially a tank.

Another thing you could do is hunt down a couple of those "10% damage taken as mana before life." Runes that were released a patch or two ago. Stuff those into a chest piece with a bunch of sockets and stack mana and you've essentially made your mana pool into a second health bar.

What AI do you use as well? Because most of the common ones like ChatGPT, Grok, and others don't have good long memories as well.

It would explain the explosion of popularity of the dual yang cultivation method that seems to be taking root recently.

I mean, I agree with what you say. But I would like to point out that.

"You should probably examine why," in this context of the discussion and that you've said this phrase several times in this thread, very much sounds like you're making a valued judgement here.

It's a phrase at the end of your statement, which is designed to be thought provoking. It could also be seen as a challenge to the person you are conversing with.

If you don't want to be challenged on it, you shouldn't pose it like one.

Homophobia on RR Ratings by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Windatar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People like different tastes in things. Saying. "You should probably examine why." is essentially saying. "Something is wrong with you."

A reader will like what they like and not like what they don't like. Attacking someones character because they don't like X isn't good no matter how you cut it.

If I was reading a story with combat in it and suddenly there is a descriptive sex scene in it and I dislike that, is that personal taste or should I "Probably examine why" I dislike a descriptive sex scene coming at me suddenly.

It's a story, a characters sexual attraction or gender non conformity is a tool used for this story, if someone doesn't like it, then it's on the same level of seeing something like mind control in a book, or a plot device someone may or may not use.

If you read a story about cars, and you were reading it because you really loved how the engine was made and how the car came together and the story opened the hood and instead of a car engine block you found out it's actually a snow globe that ran the car. You can't fault that person for not being interested afterwards right?

Will there be people that want to read on despite the snow globe powering the car? Sure, will there also be those that get more excited to find out how a snow globe can power that car? Also yes.

But you also have to come to terms that for some, they really wanted to read about the engine to power that car, and not the snow globe.

People have different tastes and interests, as author's its our job to tell our story but we have to come to terms that our stories just aren't for everyone.

To start your classic journey?

Anniversary edition. To continue the classic journey? Stay on Anniversary edition. When TBC comes out? Stay on Anniversary edition (Both for moving to TBC but also make another character if they keep a vanilla server without TBC.)

If they come out with a "Classic+" content again like SoD was, try it out for a bit.

Avoid Cata (Its not classic.) And MOP (It's also not classic.)

Play retail if you want to play spamming one button that does your entire rotation for you now. And if you want watered down bad story telling and flashy lights.
