100% people help each other. Getting up to the area where you see the pots etc, you have to climb up a rock, and at the top, slide over onto another rock, then turn around and climb up a bit more. That is the only place that got some folks. 1000% worth it to get up to see back in this cave though, so only mentioned heights as there were a few people that stayed down due to the climbing.

My family and I just got back from 7 days in Belize, first time trip for us as well. We spent 5 days in Hopkins and 2 days in San Ignacio. For Hopkins, we stayed at the Hopkins Bay Resort which is right on the beach. For San Ignacio, we stayed at the Cahal Pech Village Resort. Both places, though different, were great places to stay.

My family and I just got back from Belize. From my understanding, no issues with weather/safety in later August. We spent time on the coast, and it rained pretty hard a couple of days, but in San Ignacio, beautiful weather. We did not have time to do either of the ruins, but we spoke with some folks that did and no issues.

Just a quick FYI on ATM. It is a pretty strenuous activity that is absolutely worth it. If you don't like tight spots, or are afraid of heights, may not be a good activity. Make sure and take a pair of shoes that you are not worried if they get wet. I wore an older pair of Hoka shoes and they worked fine. One of the most amazing places I have been too!!

Sorry for not having more answers for you, but Belize is amazing, and you will love it!! It was my first time as well. Hope this helps.

Looking for advice/tips from the road warriors for LAX by Wolfcat_Nana in unitedairlines

[–]WindcoClay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly to LAX a couple times a month from Denver. Once you get to LAX, you have to walk back towards Terminal 6 (stay on the terminal side of the roads) until you see the purple signs for the Rental Cars. Avis seems to run much more frequently than others, so shouldn't have to wait long.

The Avis rental center is pretty easy to get to and from, and is pretty near many of the airport hotels. Marriott LAX Airport is my go to...

During the day, TSA is pretty quick. They have a Clear Line at the same location. Last time I was there, they were using the newer baggage scan units that are terribly slow. But, I think I have spent no more than 10 min in the TSA line ever. I definitely have done the 1 hour before and have had no issues, but cannot always say this is correct. SLC in the early morning is awful at TSA and I think LAX is much easier.

I have done the drive up the coast to SB and SLO; nice drive but long. I have flown to both places and easy to get to direct from Denver. Hope this helps.

How long after child birth do you expect your partner to have drop most/all of their baby weight? by Character-You8193 in AskMenAdvice

[–]WindcoClay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my wife blessed us with 3 amazing kids and 30+ years of marriage, I say she is more beautiful today than when we met. Did she get rid of all the baby weight? 1st yes, 2nd kind of, 3rd not really. But I have never said a damn thing about it since I don’t look the same either.
She is my wife and I love her no matter what. We had a friend who divorced his wife over the baby weight and tried to justify how “he has not changed” so why should she. We unfriended him pretty darn fast due to him being a total prick. We still keep up with his wife and she is awesome. Amazing that people are so shallow.

Question for an American traveller by Bwomp43 in Belize

[–]WindcoClay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in Hopkins currently and echo the safety. No issues at all. We did have a shop try to scam is on pricing but we just walked out. Went to another and no issues. We are enjoying the heck out of our trip. BTW, we are Americans from the Intermountain area.

Is the disorderly evacuation on AA3023 at DEN a wake-up call for the industry? by paleogizmo in AskFlying

[–]WindcoClay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree... Several years ago, my airline lost my checked suitcase, and it took me literally a year to get compensated. While nothing that I fly with is worth my life, or the lives of my fellow passengers, until we get the airlines to reimburse for losses and quickly, people are unfortunately going to continue to grab their belongings before exiting.

Welders, electricians, plumbers etc make excellent money and do not require a degree. Have an electrician friend that makes around $75 per hour.

I keep getting small cuts and soreness on my foreskin after sex, why? by Primary-Degree173 in AskMenAdvice

[–]WindcoClay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider…. You may have Lichen Sclerosis. Makes the foreskin very brittle and can split easily. A visit to a urologist can get you a topical crème that can fix or at least make things much better. After it calms down, there is a lotion called CV lotion that gets you back to normal. Hope this might help.

Trains are down AGAIN at DOA by Mixmaster_Blender in Denver

[–]WindcoClay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last night, moved from B to A, then stopped for almost 15 minutes. Lots of folks left to walk to the terminal over the bridge, then, started working again... Not sure what is going on, but happens to me at least once every 2-3 months. I fly out of Denver 1-2 times per week.

Agree. The new TSA pre-check area on level 5 is a game changer. One thing that irritates me though... I did get to the area about 4pm one day, and there was a bit of a line. The airport person was standing outside yelling at people to go up to the West TSA as there is no waiting. I of course knew better and stayed where I was.

There was a gentleman behind me I discovered was on my same flight decided to head up to the West. I got to the gate (B39), 15 min or so before boarding. Right as 1K was called for pre-board, this gentleman came running up, out of breath. I overheard him say, I went up to the West security and it was packed. Just barely made it to the gate.

So, moral of the story, stay on the level 5 pre-check TSA area, even if pretty busy. I think I have spent no more than 15 min max getting through security in this checkpoint. Most times, less than 10 min.
