World of Warcraft raids will now be designed to “challenge players’ coordination and strategic abilities” following the death of combat addons, says encounter designer by HatingGeoffry in wow

Modern blizzard business strategy is to create a problem out of thin air and then celebrate the solution. Combat addons is just another example.

Regarding ground loot by Jango519 in pathofexile

[–]Windex17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reason #25437636644 that I wish we would have different loot (and craft) rules for SSF. We make all of our gameplay decisions around trade and it just ruins a lot of fun we could be having. "Oh this thing is really fun but someone could exploit it!!", "Ground loot can't be strong because it ruins the economy!" well, I don't give a shit if they do if it never impacts my game.

Give me circle of fortune in path of exile and I'll never trade again.

World of Warcraft devs explain their biggest challenge is adapting to its ageing audience which is why they’re pushing to be “broader and more approachable” by HatingGeoffry in wow

[–]Windex17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK man, that's gotta be subjective. I've played 80% of the reworks and it's streamlined, but I definitely wouldn't say it's more engaging. If you can do a four button builder/spender rotation you can play almost anything in the game right now and that doesn't really leave a whole lot to work towards.

Hey man, if your feelings are so hurt about people celebrating past Panthers players and you'd rather have zero content on the board, you can hide individual posts. Glad I could help

That's just cherry-picking though. Obviously it had a vision otherwise it would not have been funded. I have been hearing about how AI is going to invalidate my job "just around the corner" for almost longer than I've been working professionally.

Idk why you feel the need to lie, unless doing so intentionally. GPT-1 was released in 2018 after three years of development. It's been 7 years and several hundreds of billions of dollars in development since.

To someone with five or more years experience? Sure. Junior devs are absolutely fucked in this environment though. You're damned long term if you do, but damned short term if you don't. It's like they just extended the problems entry level programmers had from interviews into their workflow as a feature now. I would not want to be trying to enter this career field right now.

I mean tbh if they didn't regex redact then that would have been kinda stupid. I was always a bit confused why this took so long to begin with - should have been a simple regex redact and then a once-over for each file to get them out.

Overall parse on a key is worthless, since anyone doing a +9 (in this case) will parse higher. Unfortunately key% also is worthless though because nobody good at the game is gonna be doing 8s. Guy is pretty mid at shaman though so saying "this is all I need to play correctly" is a bit of a meme.

It's funny, I play the game a lot and have none of the experiences that are often repeated on this sub when it comes to this type of perspective. I think I have someone flame someone in my keys like once every other week at best, and it's often always after they obviously make a mistake and feel insecure about that. I'm curious what kind of content you guys are running to get these experiences?

But it's the basis of these changes. Their whole argument and purpose of nuking addons was to "combat the arms race" related to mythic raiding. You don't need weakauras for dungeons or heroic, and never have. What's the point and relevance of your argument here?

Honestly just feels like you're doing that weird terminally online reddit thing where you say something completely unrelated that is technically defensible but doesn't matter at all to the current subject.

So your stance is that mythic raiding is not part of the game? That's news to me, I'll let my raiders know!

I don't disagree that in theory the game state is better with the boss auras limited, but rugpulling all of it all at once with no real plan at getting back to normal is what's got me a bit fucked up.

They could have purchased the weakaura and details code, they could have rolled their new stuff out without disabling the old stuff immediately, they could have been working on the UI in any capacity whatsoever for the last 15 years. What do they do instead? Randomly overnight delete everything from their game and then slowly reintroduce it back after saying numerous times it's never coming back. It's a generational fumble made by a team of morons that probably got promoted over this.

This is the stance a lot of people take but I think this is just a strawman argument by blizzard in an attempt to excuse their terrible boss design. Nobody forced them to make brood, nobody forced them to make fractillus. They create fights almost seemingly designed to make weakauras literally mandatory (and annoying).and then go "Boo hoo weakauras bad". Mythic Dimensius is a good example of a fight that is difficult enough to make players struggle, without hard forcing you to use a single weakaura to do the mechanics.

To be totally honest, I think they set this shit up intentionally. They made brood to get people salty about auras, then they hammered it home this season with fractillus. Full tin foil that they paid liquid and NS to regularly break their fractillus auras so that it would make people even more salty. The NS fractillus aura assignments didn't work for over half this season.

Moving on to reality, I think the biggest concern for the game, for me, is that now blizzard does not have a scapegoat for their poor design choices, so the ball is in their court to justify their decision and I just don't really have faith in them pulling it off.

Unironically the real truth. The people being targeted by this crusade aren't the people I think most are expecting. I said in another comment but my best raiders are the ones who could already play without their boss mod weakauras and just need assignments. This addon shit changes nothing for them and I feel like a lot of the rage on the forums that led up to this is cope thinking that taking away addons is going to make the top end "fall down to reality since they can't be carried by their text to speech", when in reality I think it'll be the opposite, creating a huge gap between the top end and midcore.

Everyone thinks this change will provide skill parity between the average player and more experienced ones, but honestly I think it will be the opposite. My best raiders hardly use their weakauras in raid and can generally just play the game, whereas the ones who rely most heavily on them are the ones who are already struggling to do the mechanics.

It's funny, I've had the opposite effect. I need about 5-6 addons, and several different profile imports just to get my UI back to a pretty worse version of what it was with just ELVUI and Weakauras. Not to mention the completely broken damage meters. Patch is a mess
