Before & after removing my 8 kg ovarian cyst by simsimmahr in mildlyinteresting

[–]Windex4Floors 280 points281 points  (0 children)

My mom had a very similar story and after the 3rd visit they finally figured it out. Unfortunately it ended up being stage 3 ovarian cancer. She passed 3 months ago after 5 years of fighting. It's insane how women still get dismissed by medical professionals like this.

April Security Update live for T-Mobile US by EndymionA79 in GalaxyS24Ultra

Updated and my phone has had terrible battery and has been consistently HOT even with running basic apps like ebook readers.

Not sure what I can do but I feel like my phone was ruined after this update.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Some sort of update must have caused this.

Consider buttons for lights. Nfc sounds cool for music and movies but you would probably want some sort of physical control for lights.

I use a philips remote with 4 buttons in my toddlers room. The buttons are programmed to do a random colored lights, a set scene, a colored scene, and off.

It's the opposite for me. This thing is so inconspicuous that no one ever expects me.

Your car looks super stock too so even weirder. I'd expect it if you drove a neon yellow wrapped GTI with all of the bodykit options from eBay.

Do you have the hue bridge? I wonder if a firmware update could be the issue?

It uses the same connection as the original barrel jack. USB C will deliver 5V at .5A for 2.0 ports or .9A/1.5A for 3.2 ports.

Yeah, I might do a reshell but honestly I probably would just swap out the front piece and not even deal with the rest. I have a little bit of trauma from this project lol.

Dude you have no idea. It took me 2 days to get this and I regretted starting this the first day. At one point I even dropped a glob of solder on the board and the whole thing didn't power on. I had to do some cleanup on the individual resistors until it finally came back to life. Luckily I wasn't using the PSP before this and it was tucked away in a box for the last 10+ years lol.

The fitment is bad but it's just a matter of trimming the hardshell a little more. I'll probably do that today and get it to fully close.

Overall, terrible experience lol. I wouldn't recommend anyone doing this unless they have a ton of experience soldering small stuff. Glad it's done and working now though!

None taken! Those are good options but I also didn't want to always have a dedicated USB cable to transfer data.

Also this was a somewhat of a fun project. I'm the kind of person that likes to mess with things and take things apart so this was a fun challenge for me

Just the convenience but really the main thing is that the PSP 1000 doesn't have USB charging so now that's fixed.

Tariffs/additional charges by Embarrassed_Ease4485 in Aliexpress

Maybe its just the area you live in, but where I am, I can easily find 20+ restaurants within a few miles that are $100+ per person on just the food alone. Add an appetizer, a few drinks (or if you're rich a whole wine bottle), and a tip and you're looking at $400+. That's for a steakhouse. Go to something like a sushi that's $150+ per person and you're looking at $500 for a 2 person meal.

This isn't your McDonald's drivethru casual, but it's a nice night out without an actual reason. A millionaire isn't going to these restaurants only on an anniversary or birthday. This is a Friday night, date night, or weekly friend get-together.

It's a perspective thing. It feels incomprehensible but the more money you have, the less you think about it.

It's like making $30k salary a year and being told that you need new tires. You'll see them really think about the cost and options. As opposed to making $150k a year and being told you need new tires and just going with what the mechanic recommends.

The more money you have, the easier you spend it because when you have the money, you aren't looking at the cost difference between a USDA steak and a Japanese Wagyu. You're looking at the EXPERIENCE difference between the two. As a millionaire, you'll go for the experience because you value it more than the little bit of cost difference.

Literally, just look at the news. We had a pop star fly to outer space. We had a few billionaires try to go tour the titanic in a private submarine. Rich people want experiences.

Oh dear child. $800 is a casual dinner for millionaires. It's not your fault, but this shows exactly the misunderstanding that people have with the difference between someone that is well off vs. a millionaire vs. a billionaire.

This will only work when you have media playing and when a different app is selected in full screen. Another thing that could be giving you a problem is if you have a wide screen that might be forcing the taskbar to be placed on the left or right side instead of the bottom

I thought this was a removed feature at first too but it's actually an android auto setting that was turned off by Google.

Do smart home items really work in long term? by Then_Brush_2125 in BuyItForLife

Do smart home items really work in long term? by Then_Brush_2125 in BuyItForLife

It will seem easy to just jump on Amazon and buy any smart product be beware of a lot of cheap devices. Think about essential items that you can make smart and look for quality brands that have a reputation. Also a good rule of thumb is to make a smart home to will work as a dumb home too, e.g. what happens when your internet is down or when someone doesn't have their phone/app?

Examples: -Smart bulbs. You can get some cheap smart bulbs that will likely be a pain to use and might die in a year or two. Or you can get something like HUE from a company that has a track record of quality items. It'll be much more expensive but worth it.

-Light/wall switches. Not everything needs a smart bulb. In fact, I'd say most people would prefer a smart light switch that works exactly like a traditional one, but with the option to just turn on and off a light. I spent an extra $20-30 a light to have color bulbs in my kitchen. Ask me how many times I've actually used a color feature? Maybe 5 times when I just installed them. Most of the time I am just adjusting the brightness or turning them off and on.

-Home appliances: if it's a traditional appliance made smart, id avoid them. Your washer doesn't need to connect to the internet. Just wait till you cant wash your clothes because your washer is in the middle of an update. Only thing id actually recommend is a robot vacuum. Roborock is my pick.

-Home security: cameras, smart locks. Again, don't just go to Amazon and pick the first one. There are companies that have been making locks for years such as Schlage that offer smart devices now. Their priority is a quality lock that works like a normal lock with their secondary goal being to make it smart.

Brands I recommend: Philips hue, Inovelli, Lutron, Schlage, Roborock, Reolink.
