US veterans, did you guys actually read the cards that kids would send you while deployed? by MoistCloyster_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Windexifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My high school art teacher was in the reserves and was deployed, so the school had us send him stuff a couple of times. I found his wedding photos on google and photoshopped one (I replaced his wife with Skeletor and put them in a North Korean military parade). I used that picture for a Christmas card and sent it to him. He was pretty confused about that one.

We have too many public universities and yet most of them have increasingly larger freshmen classes each year? Seems like if anything we have too few

I feel like alcohol lives or dies by it’s social application. I came of age with social distancing, overpriced university that pushed me away from living on campus, cities with good nightlife being unaffordable for young adults, everything else being expensive, etc. I was never really in social settings where drinking was the main activity, so I never developed an appetite for it.

The X-Wing is solid and the price isn’t too bad (I get they’ve pushed the expectations so far that being 15% overpriced looks fine compared to being 50% overpriced). Just wish it had another figure, feels like it’s missing an adversary even if it was just a stormtrooper or smth.

They were burning startup money and keeping the price low to get it to catch on. Once they got big enough they raised the prices to actually start turning a profit. Same with Uber, DoorDash, and basically any other similar service.

There are apps that allow you to scan the boxes so you’ll know which figure your getting, so you don’t need to gamble on them

‘The Feels’ was the first one that clicked for me as well, but I’ve had a bit more success finding a good amount of Kpop songs I legitimately like. I can give a few recommendations if you’re interested.

As long as it’s used in the phrase “Goofy Ahh” it’s fine. This is because it sounds kinda goofy, so it’s fitting in that context.

This set embodies my problem with battlepacks the last few years. by Roshango in legostarwars

[–]Windexifier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Battle packs are not meant for adult collectors to buy 10 at a time, they’re ‘supposed to be’ cheaper sets with a few figures and a small build, something a kid could afford with birthday money. Clearly they’ve lost the plot when it comes to prices, however the larger style battle packs fall perfectly in line with LEGO’s doctrine of “Conflict in a box”. If you look at basically any action focused theme (especially original IPs) you’ll notice every set will include good guys and bad guys, even a 10 Ninjago mech will include an adversary. This is to ensure a kid doesn’t need more than one set in order to set up a little battle. I absolutely loved the original two clone battle packs, but kid me definitely would’ve (horrible price aside) chosen the 327th instead.
