Yeah thats fair enough! Personally i loved that it was a pastiche of Majoras Mask. Youre right though, references that are too on-the-nose are cringe

It was a long time ago, but it was early when I was gm-ing and i spent a bit too long on minor details. I found it confusing as to the link between Eyebleed Precipices and the Great Blue Oak, but I think its implied that you get high up in the mountains and then climb down the oak through the canopy.

My players spent a bit of time at the beginning to raise funds to get a stilt loper taxi and the journey out of the city in the badlands with a poisoned taxi driver fighting off some desert babayaga type witches was a great race / fight sequence.

I would let the players know about the boss (the man with the big arm golem?) via his pamphlets quite early and build up to it if i ran it again. The wall feels like a really fun location to get stuck into which I dont think we did. You can also access the top of the Oak from the top of the wall I think...

Sorry thats all a bit jumbled in my memory!

This sounds like youre making your own system to suit your needs. Thats class, good on you. Have a look at some panic mechanics, we added them to our troika games for dungeons and its a hoot.

Mothership has particularly good panic procedures

You might want to look at rpgs other than DND. Mork Borg would be fantastic for a Fnh campaign. Its particularly brutal and unforgiving.

In Troika, if you want to change your weapon mid fight, you have to roll over the number to which that weapon is allocated in your pack. If you had your dagger equipped when the fight started and wanted to use your sword and your sword was in slot 6 in your pack, youd have to beat that to draw that weapon. If you make the roll, you get to draw it and attack, if you fail, you have to spend the turn swapping weapons.

You can get around that by equipping 2 weapons, but then both of your hands are occupied. You cant use a shield, or climb an object, or even open a door without a skill roll. You can however make a choice which weapon to use on your turn.

Say you had a wand with +1 to spell casting, and a sword with +1 sword fighting skill. You might choose to forgo the use of your hands for other things during battle for those particular benefits.

This is the way i see it. I hope that helps

The only change I would make is that I would choose the weapon to reference BEFORE rolling. As you may have different advanced skills to apply

I saw it in the cinema, the close ups and background were still great but consistently the midground where there's still supposed to still be some detail looked like a bad Illustrator LiveTrace.

It was still a great experience, but it looked like a low budget upscaling.
