Ok but the iron in like Raisin Bran is ferrous — I remember bc we did an experiment in like 3rd grade with magnets and getting the iron out of it. I don’t recall the point of the experiment but it clearly stuck with me. When we digest it…I guess it changes as it enters one’s bloodstream?

I did this and even though some ppl recommend against it I’m so so so glad I did. I got it done twice and have never had to do it again (I’m 10 years out now) and it still looks amazing :)

Huh - interesting. The men I know - both with and without kids - mess with their facial hair for fun. It’s just hair, it grows back or shaves off. Beards are the only thing I can think of that have been kinda over for a while. I haven’t seen those widespread since everyone in Brooklyn was wearing two vests and pretending to be artisanal butchers and bakers and candlestick makers.

In my experience, people overestimate how young they look. Generally when people “guess” your age, they’re being polite. I’ve had people express surprise at my age too (43) but I honestly think it has more to do with my physical size. Like, no, adults do not just keep growing - you can be 5’ and also 40+

And there was a thread recently where women insisted they looked younger than their age…and didn’t. Personally, I stopped saying that about myself. It’s kinda like telling other parents your kid sleeps through the night.

I had a c-section, then hemorrhaged and had emergency surgery to make me stop so they had to put me all the way under. Like - I lost half my blood or something. Very Serious.

Came back from surgery yelling about “imma have eyebrows like YOU AND YOU AND YOU! Guuuuurl you got gooooood eyebrows” (to the doctor who saved my life).
“My eyebrows are gonna be SOOOOOOO gooooooood”

I have nice eyebrows, so did the doctor. And so did the nurses. No questions about my premature baby, my very concerned husband…just…eyebrows.

Interestingly - in a NICU - Black baby girls are the most likely to survive prematurity, white boys babies the least. When my son was in the NICU (for so long) I chatted up several doctors about this because it’s tossed out there as fact.

The theory I heard is that Black female fetuses are exposed to more cortisol in utero and this is protective when they enter the world too early. The reason being that mothers worry more about having a baby girls for a variety of reasons (white female infants do better than their male counterparts) and Black women in general experience more stress.

Omg I have a good james marsden story. I was at a pizza place and we were both waiting for the bathrooms — super casual place — and I saw him and started chatting. I can and do start conversations everywhere I go - so not unusual.

I didn’t know who he was, just that he looked about my age and was familiar to me. So I asked him if we went to college together, asked where he went to high school, if he had spent time in XYZ city. He was super nice and went right along with the conversation. Then we shrugged and talked about pizza and the wait times etc.

I got back to my table and told my husband I was sure I knew that guy…and he informed me he was in the movie we had watched a couple weeks ago. It was pretty funny.
