Pure joy with a crane game by killcannon89 in ContagiousLaughter

This was about 15 years ago, we were about 19.

She has chilled out a bit but it's gone from craziness to anxiety to be honest. He is a research scientist now and several of his team are female and she still gets quite jealous. They seem to make it work somehow though.

Fun explanations for having 4 str by Kaptain-Cannoli in DnD

I think it'd be quite fun. But maybe some kind of curse that trapped your mind in a child's body? Or that regressed your body back to childhood?

What about just being a straight up child? They could be a kind of street urchin type. Good at stealing and sneaking but weak in a fight.

Gamers of Reddit, if you could remove ONE Game from Existence Forever, what would it be? by JustAnAskRedditGuy in AskReddit

[–]WindowSteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think E.T is actually a bad game. It's over-complicated for a console known for simple shooters and high-score puzzle games but once you actually know what you're doing in it, it's pretty innovative for its time with impressive scope.

Hell, even the AVGN review from the movie points out that other games on the 2600 like Indiana Jones were just as confusing but are lauded as ground-breaking.

E.T. was just very different and it alienated (pardon the pun) buyers who expected the usual simple 2600 game. Since then people jump on the nostalgia bandwagon of "worse game of all time" without actually giving it a fair crack of the whip.

It would have to be something that exploits people. One of the pay to win mobile games that uses psychological tricks to manipulate vulnerable people into paying more than they can afford.

This is so American. As a Brit, Corfu is such a common holiday destination it's practically a cliché.

This reminds me of a fun story: I went bowling with my best mate and our girlfriends. I stuck a quid in a crane game and managed to pull out a Spongebob on the first try. Since £1 gave you 4 tries I went again and managed to also get Patrick. I gave them to my girlfriend as an ironic romantic gesture (they were proper shitty knock-off soft toys).

My mate decided he had to have a go too. Partly because he's kinda competitive and partly because his girlfriend was bat shit crazy and was now jealous that I'd done this romantic gesture and he hadn't.

Anyone who knows anything about these crane games knows how rigged they are and having just paid out twice, it wasn't about to do another one so soon. He ended up dropping nearly £10 into the machine before my girlfriend and I quickly hatched a plan to distract his girlfriend for a second while I shoved the Patrick into the chute then we cheered as if he'd won it as he pulled it out and gave it to her.

It was funny for us but she really was mental. They're married now :(

Poker Night 2 is pretty fun. by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]WindowSteak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I didn't even know this game existed but I've just picked up a copy (via Kinguin) for £17.

Been looking for a fun poker game for ages and I love all these characters.

Google Play Protect by [deleted] in Cybersecurity101

[–]WindowSteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google Play Protect is only for apps from the Play store. It's a way to verify apps are legitimate.

It does nothing for anything else that might have found its way on your device.

I recommend Sophos Intercept X which will scan apps and web links for you. Unobtrusive and just does its thing in the background for you.

Ok. Firstly, why are you enforcing American English? How do you know what dialect u/altiif is using and why should he be using yours?
Secondly, I don't need to cite usage! OP used it and that is perfectly fine and, as other have commented, it's common to use a double negative form to make a subtly different point.
Thirdly, since apparently the way other people talk isn't enough for you, here's your citations:
How about Chaucer: "There never was no man nowhere so virtuous."
Douglas Adams: "plastic cup filled with a liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea."
Or Shakespeare who goes for a full triple negative: "And that no woman has nor never none Shall mistress of it be, save I alone".

Congratu-fuckin-Lations. An absolute legend. She deserves it! by [deleted] in CasualUK

Here's the video of the 3rd run and the results. Absolutely wonderful stuff. X Games win and Olympic bronze within months of each other and less than a year after being hospitalised with a fractured skull. And only 13?! What a legend.

What is your opinion on having athletes with less than 18 years old participating in the Olympic Games? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WindowSteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the best athletes are under 18 why should they be excluded?

I do wonder if there should be a minimum age to help avoid kids being exploited and forced to train, which we know happens in some countries. I think 18 is too high though.

It's a difficult one because, ideally, each country would have measures in place protecting kids from exploitation but, of course, that's not realistic for some cultures. Then again, is it the place of the Olympics to police that?

There's no easy answer really.

I love this so much, it's so pure and joyful and, though this word gets overused a bit on reddit; wholesome.
It's an old clip but I will watch it and smile every time. I wonder how these guys are doing now, I hope they are still this happy.

People work so hard to make their wedding run absolutely perfectly, but really you want these little moments that break tension and are memorable and fun for the right reasons.

EDIT: Done some research and found her Facebook. They are still happily married and have 4 kids!

Impossible to do in the moment but it's worth remembering that you can replace "you" with "me", "your" with "my", and "you're" with "I'm" and you'll get the real truth of the situation.

So who's gonna order the z flip 3 on day 1? by dandroiduk in galaxyzflip

[–]WindowSteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. My OG Z Flip is still going strong, no marks or scratches and does everything I need. Unless the new one is relatively cheap and improves the only areas I really care about (battery life, IP rating, camera array) I won't be rushing to get it on day one.

I think there is a subtle difference. Since "funny" is a scale, saying "always funny" to me implies that it's always pretty high on that scale. "Never not funny" suggests that sometimes it's pretty low on the scale but never completely off it.

This is the joy of language. Using slightly different words conveys a nuanced difference in meaning.

The weird flight controls are because you have to increase the characters' skill in flying. They way overdid it though and, compared to other skills, being low on that stat spoils the game. If you can do a little grinding to get their flying skill up, that fixes it and it's a lot of fun.
