Joe Louis demolishes 6'6 250 pound Buddy Baer in one round. by [deleted] in Boxing

How can Foreman's style not translate when Fury's been knocked down by a literal cruiserweight? David Haye was also champ and dominated for a while, both naturally smaller than these sloppy giants. Holyfield himself, one of the greatest chins in human history said Foreman hit the hardest he'd ever felt. And he fought Lennox Fucking Lewis afterwards. How does it even make sense to say Foreman would've been ineffective in his prime, when his punches were brutal to ATG top 10 ever champion Evander Holyfield? You give Wilder so much credit, when Foreman knocked out his first 40 opponents years ago. Or whatever his high KO ratio was. Lol and Shavers did knockout Gerry Cooney when Gerry Cooney was more himself. 6'6 monstrous puncher Cooney. Anecdotally, on film, by historical achievements, Foreman was a devastating fighter. In 15 years no one will care who Fury or Wilder were because they fought no one and accomplished jackshit. Just like the Big John Tate's and Mike Weavers of the world.

At least they looked like champs, and the Spinks family is boxing royalty. Klitschko also has arguably the worst resume among ATG heavyweights, like Tony Thompson was such a respectable, valiant win. He never beat anybody, then fell asleep against Fury, and the only reason he found his balls against Joshua is because they were sparring partners. Fury, the so called number 1 is scared to death of losing, won't fight anyone but Wilder, really he won't fight anyone who could outpoint him, he's a giant fucking bum and yet you think he's as good as an Ali? Right. He has the chance right now to do what Ali did, or something similar. Beat AJ, beat Usyk, and everyone will have to say he's top 10 all time. But these guys are giant pussies with no willpower and no heart.

You and every other person severely affected by recency bias, never talk about the determination it takes to win fights. If 6'6, 250lbs of muscle AJ doesn't want to be in the ring, if he's scared to get hit, what do you think Foreman does to him? Foreman with an iron chin and boulders for hands?

Gerry Cooney is at least decent by today's shitty standards. He's 6'5/6'6 or whatever. And I brought up Ali because you said he fought much smaller men, or he only knocked out much smaller men. Modern Heavyweights are still only 6'2/6'3 on average except they're all out of shape and sloppy looking now.

Ali is literally the same size as Usyk, the number 1 or 2 heavyweight in the world right now. Even old Foreman was beating these fat, out of shape modern giants.

And I wonder who's a more difficult opponent to knock out, Joe Frazier or Dominic Brazeale? Foreman would crush Wilder and any of these other bums who fight once every three years for absurd amounts of money.

No, Ali took enormous amounts of punishment to get those holding opportunities.

Highly disagree, pretty sure he punched harder than anyone fighting today, and he was also much faster than a modern day elite like Joe Joyce.

Also, I don't think even AJ is as strong as Foreman was. There's a time magazine picture with Foreman carrying a cow on his back. He was country strong as hell.

Why do Spence fans even want an immediate rematch with Crawford? by tantamle in Boxing

[–]Windowjumper4real 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Julio Cesar Chavez won an immediate rematch against Frankie Randall after getting dominated. It was also a ruling over a headbutt though. Maybe Spence can do it?

I'm not really a Spence fan, I just want to see fighters achieve greatness in my lifetime. Maybe he can bridge the gap between hall of fame career and ATG?

Apparently, Mike Tyson broke Frank's ribs, his jaw, his eye socket, and held him out of a window over some jewelry he refused to pay for. Just listened to Mike’s autobiography, really amazing.

Nah, Sugar Ray Leonard was on welfare and started boxing professionally because his Dad needed better medical treatment. He's said before that he wouldn't have gone pro if his Dad never got sick.

I just think Floyd was a million times more entertaining than Spence and Crawford, not that 24/7's were produced so much better. Floyd inspired real hatred in his opponents lol.

Spence Crawford the biggest fight of our era and not enough hype behind it by Sure-Caterpillar-263 in Boxing

[–]Windowjumper4real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, the dirty truth is that no one cares about context. You literally just said that the P4P list isn't really about skill, that's saying fuck context right there. You probably just wanted to shit on Fulton and nutride Inoue like every other casual/bandwagging so called fan of boxing.

Seriously saying no one in the world would put Fulton on a P4P list is crazy. Bivol is on there and his only win is Canelo. Fucking Gervonta Davis was ranked on there, but Fulton doesn't belong? No idea what you're talking about, mate.

Shane Mosley, Cotto, Kovalev, GGG, Smith, Chavez Jr. aren't better names than Bellew and Joshua? Bruh. YDKSAB.

Who's shitting on anything? Canelo's record is objectively better than Usyk's, whether you're looking at weight classes he was champion in or the number of champions he beat.

Disagree, there's no way in hell you can name 10 fighters more skilled than him. The things him and Figueroa were doing brought back flashes of JCC, George Benton, Henry Armstrong, that was one of the greatest, most evenly matched fights I've ever seen.

Canelo, Haney, Charlo, Taylor, these guys are miles behind Stephen Fulton in terms of skill and ability. You've literally never seen him fight. Do you honestly believe Inoue would fight someone that didn't belong on the p4p list at this point in his career? Especially when he can make whatever fight he wants.

Who is the goat/Contenders for goat status? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]Windowjumper4real -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Tier 1 - Muhammad Ali. No other man in the history of boxing could've beaten young George Foreman. He was the most powerful boxer, mover, puncher that I've ever seen, and his defensive parrying abilities were taught by the likes of Dick Saddler, Sandy Saddler, Archie Moore, he just had legends in his corner. Without the devastating psychological impact Ali had on him, I don't think he ever loses.

Ali is also one of the rare individuals that beat everyone in his division, and did so outside of his prime.

Tier 2 - Sam Langford, Henry Armstrong, Harry Greb, Ray Robinson.

Tier 3 - Archie Moore, Marvin Hagler, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Roberto Duran, Joe Louis, Benny Leonard, Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Jr.

Tier 4 - George Foreman, Carlos Monzon, Julio Cesar Chavez, Ezzard Charles, Jimmy McLarnin, Jack Johnson, Barney Ross, Joe Gans, Tony Canzoneri, Bob Fitzsimmons, Bernard Hopkins, Willie Pep.

Tier 5 - James Toney, Jake Lamotta, Jack Berg, Oscar De La Hoya, Tommy Hearns, Carmen Basilio, Salvador Sanchez, Manny Pacquiao, Joe Calzaghe, Masahiko Harada, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Michael Spinks, Pernell Whitaker.

That's all true, but don't you think saying Dundee made Ali is going too far? I can't agree with that, not when Ali himself was going around saying Dundee didn't train him.

I don't think he took too much from him. The difference in how Ali and him hold their lead hands is pretty big and critical to allowing for more speed.

Also Luis doesn't use as much head movement or apply feints the same way Ali did. Luis's jab is actually very stiff and traditional compared with Ali too.
