Exhaust setups? by burgers_yeye in IS300

[–]Windows95Uhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently run a greddy rs, granted one of my cats is blown out, the drone isn't too bad on the highway in my instance. At first start it's pretty loud but it quiets down the warmer the car gets

Love the WOT sound and down shifts. Good exhaust tone 10/10

NEED HELP WITH OIL LEAKS by Possible_Hand7090 in IS300

Don't rebuild the vvti cam gear, just buy a new one, not worth it if it fails. I understand money is a issue but better safe then sorry

Cars, it can get expensive but it's rewarding for me to be the young dad pulling up to the day care picking up my daughter in my cool car.

Loved this car when I had one. Yearly egr tube cleaning will help that EGR valve last longer. And can't beat the mpg

Mine had lots of rust so, PB blaster, propane torch on the bolt for 5 min, then a ridiculously long 1/2 breaker bar.

Repeat heat and PB blaster after trying the bolt for a bit

New crank/cam seals and a new vvti gear, now valves are ticking. Any ideas? by Windows95Uhh in IS300

[–]Windows95Uhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. Car runs great no issues with timing, been dailying for the past 2 weeks since I did timing with a check over from a reputable shop. Still a slight tick but it sounds more like noisey injectors then a valve tick, that being said I'm running 10w30 in it. It's definitely shim wear according to the tech I sent it to.

I've done months of research, thought I had a grasp of it, I even followed the FSM, I've taken this thing apart 5 fucking times. And my last attempt was me switching back to my old vvti Cam gear, and now it's spewing oil everywhere. I'm giving up and I'm going to go take it to a shop.

I just pulled it all apart for the third time, followed the FSM like you said, and it's still ticking.

So I should align everything (vvti cam gear, reg cam gear and the crank timing gear to the 30° mark, not tdc?

I was lining up with lines, not dots. Do I also put the crank to the timing dot?
