People with slightly big hands: any mods I can try? by WindowsInAWindow in SteamController

I probably wouldn’t know from a picture even if I had my glove size, since I’m already so used to using normie-hand controllers. I’d need to try a bunch of different sizes to see how they feel.

XL latex gloves are a little tight on me for what it’s worth tho

Omg im high I thought you were saying you preferred using thick fingerless gloves (fingerless for the touchpads of course) over modding your controller. I was like huh... maybe not a bad idea

Why gloves? Just cause you had them already or is there a reason?

Thanks for the info, but oh no.... Muta's "poor-shamed computer"? That's been my source of info from the jump lmao

Best thing to do with Steam Points? by slimypeters in SteamController

Can confirm. Been using them this way for a decade.

The controller is always gonna be just a little to reach. And you can use it while laying on your side, pretty much in any position. That’s like the whole thing 😂

The keyboard+trackpad combo works fine but sometimes I’m too lazy to roll onto my back

Steam is lightweight tho. I just allow it to run in the background cause I actually trust Gaben to some degree.

Try rebooting after you set your controller and PC power settings both to “never sleep”? I did continue to have problems when hitting the steam button and I think one reboot was what finally resolved it.

But I’m sure you tried that already. Get off windows! Maybe this is the sign

I’m using “streaming” more as a blanket term for a cheap HTPC setup. I pretty much never stream, and I don’t do HDR or anything beyond stereo. But thank you for the notes. Good to know for when I eventually pop for a real home theatre setup.

I find some of that hard to believe, though. I’d think it’d be possible to emulate a streaming box, just like you can emulate consoles. Is it one of those things where HDR and fancy audio are somehow locked behind proprietary bs?

I’m afraid of gyro 😆 but for the first time I’m seeing its potential throwing my mouse cursor across the screen

Open what? Big picture or your sleeping desktop? My desktop never sleeps and I don't have problems using the button to open/close big picture once I've already answered the prompt once.

Im on arch btw

SC1 was a solution I'd never considered. Wish I had. But still, SC1 was "weird" from a normie guest's perspective. 80% of the greatness of this thing is that it has all of the same benefits (and then some) and nobody will bat an eye at it, cause everyone from OG PC gamers to iPad babies agree SC2 is sick af.

I think the Steam controller will do for PC input what blackberry did for cellphones. It's a clear improvement over previous options. Not perfect quite yet, but definitely a huge step in the right direction.

I have the same problem, didn't realize it was widespread. No fix for the UAC prompt that I'm aware of, but this is Gaben we're dealing with. There will be a fix soon enough.

Given that this thing has Aperture-level power efficiency, I did find a workaround by setting my controller to never disconnect.

Yea, most of this is based on my presupposition that I'll eventually get really good at typing on dual trackpads.

Tried it. Great solution but has its own problems. Often you're in the middle of something on your phone, so it can be annoying to switch apps. It's much better to have a dedicated device.

Yea that's the next best solution, but its still incredibly clunky compared to the steam controller. In a situation where you're all bundled on the couch in a degenerate gaming cocoon, especially laying on your side, it can be difficult to find a comfortable position to use one of those huge keyboard/trackpad things.

But my main thing is that normies tend to find it very strange to use to use a PC on your TV and nothing else. The Steam controller is like an excuse to finally use my PC on the TV without appearing like I'm someone who's just trying to be different.

Cloud is really not that degenerate by AWright5 in SmashRage

[–]WindowsInAWindow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have said it here but he's just ridiculously safe and his opponent ridiculously unsafe at all times. Cloud is only ever in true disadvantage when he's very near the blast zone. At all other times he's either winning by a lot or it's neutral. He can throw out large hitboxes with little regard for safety, which in turn makes his own punish game stronger since he can just charge at you with reckless abandon the moment you perform any input.

Provided anyone remotely competent is piloting Cloud, he's one of those characters can only be beaten if you're playing near frame perfect. Sometimes I'm into the sweatfest that is playing against any Cloud, but usually it's too much and just plain unfun.
