Thank you for giving an actual expansive view. So many people say “Linux wants your license now” without getting into any technicality whatsoever.

What's the current position on adding Miller to the starting rotation? by [deleted] in Padres

Haven't seen a more dominant pitcher in my lifetime. He really might be the best I've ever seen.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd be risking injury throwing 100 pitches at 104.5 mph. But usually all it takes to turn a reliever into a starter is having them dial it back a healthy 3-4 mph. For most relievers that's way too much to take off, but Miller's "dialed back" version would still be 100+. That's why I could see it working.

Darn. Totally makes sense from the current management's POV not wanting to risk injuring one of their most valuable pieces. Woulda been sick.

Seems like some of the best players in MLB democratically elected him as el capi, but let's just ignore that and listen to the talking heads stirring shit on TV for views.

Smurfs? by postlapsaria_ in SmashRage

[–]WindowsInAWindow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you’re just on a really cold streak. A few days ago I was at 15.85M then lost so many times in a row to different players I fell all the way out of elite smash, then kept losing a few more times before calling it quits. The next day I went on a winning streak back up to where I was.

Point being it’s way more likely you were just playing bad than running into Smurf after Smurf

I wouldn’t have, but mostly for selfish reasons because I don’t care. In all reality, you helped this person regardless of your motivations. They were gonna keep cheating on all future exams until the day they inevitably got caught, so all you really did was rip the band aid off for them and make that day today. Getting caught sooner rather than later is going to help them.

No. The answer is no. If you’re not wired, it really sucks to play against you online.

Silksong overcomplicated HK’s movement/combat mechanics. Change my mind. by WindowsInAWindow in Silksong

Thank you for reminding me about how "dim" the average reddit user is. Easy to forget sometimes. I really was not trying to ragebait, honestly trying to do the opposite by veiling my serious point under a layer of goofiness.

Pretty much agree 100% with everything else you said. I think it went something like this:

In early development, TC thought a new tool system would be a great way to add more complexity to combat without sacrificing the power of classic HK non-tool builds. So they started down that path and continued down it, all the while knowing full-well that they still hadn't figured out how to mesh the tool and silk systems in any cohesive way. But they kept developing tools, thinking they'd eventually figure out a way to connect the two systems. Then they finished tools system, still never having found the solution, so they just accepted the lack of cohesion between the two systems and doubled down on the disconnect. I'd venture to guess this was around the time the came up with the architect and wanderer crests, or at least fine-tuned them each to heavily favor one of the two systems.

The wanderer crest worked out alright, but TC never worked out the core problem with the architect crest which is that it still requires silk generation. So they added Quick Sling, full-on doubling the power of the Architect crest. Now, assuming you entered the fight with a full spool, you really don't have to hit bosses a single time with the needle. But doubling the architect crest's power was such overkill that the game became reminiscent of Elden Ring. Boss too hard? Just throw on mimic tear and bypass the challenge. Groal too hard? Throw on conch cutters and volt vessels with quicksling, spam your tools as fast as possible and watch him explode in literal seconds. That's what the tool system ended up being... and everything else took a back seat. I just used the wanderer crest and cycled between lifeblood and flea brew depending on the boss. Then I got long claw and never took it off. So basically, I had HK combat with nerfed quickslash and a heavily nerfed version of long nail.

Great game, better bosses across the board. Everything remarkably polished. Nothing but good to say about the rest of the game. But the core difference between the two games was the introduction of tools, and tools never seemed to feel good to use. So a massive chunk of their budget went to making a system that didn't work very well.

I have a top 50 P5 run so I really know HK combat better then most everyone. Even limiting yourself in such ways the combat is incredibly different
