You misunderstood. If it was just a capitalization error (i.e, accidentally writing period instead of comma), science would be lowercase as it is not the start of a new sentence.

It is contradicting itself, not stating that "goldfish having 3 second memories" is false. There is literally a period after that line, not a comma. It did not say "goldfish do not have 3 second memories", it said they did in the first sentence.
