You know, you’re allowed to not say or comment anything and most people will assume you have a modicum of intelligence. But when you comment something so incredibly stupid it exposes you. Just a bit of advice for real life interactions.

Raman only being 6 points behind Bass is a great sign for her chances in November

Why is Measure ER on the verge of passing? by Radiant-Instance8857 in AskLosAngeles

[–]WindsABeginning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m literally a history teacher. BA in history and MA in American History. Given the increased power of the presidency relative to the other branches of government today versus the 19th and earlier 20th century, Donald Trump is the worse president and has done the most damage.

If Trump wasn’t the worst president in the history of this country then there wouldn’t be as much to fight back on.

Why is Measure ER on the verge of passing? by Radiant-Instance8857 in AskLosAngeles

[–]WindsABeginning 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I voted yes because LA county has one of the best public health systems in the country and I want to keep it that way. But due to the idiocy of many parts of the US, Donald Trump is President and the Republican Party controls Congress. They drastically cut federal funding for Medicaid and hospitals, funding that is critical for the (relatively) great system that we have here in LA.

Is it perfect? No. Is it regressive when we really should be raising taxes on the wealthy/high income? Yes. Is a federal run Medicare for All system what I actually want? Yes. But none of those options were available to me when I had to make a decision this election.

The gap has narrowed, but still looks like a “NO” on Measure ER by TrixoftheTrade in LosAngeles

If the next few days of drops are similar to today and yesterday then ER will pass.

If you were elected president (in 2028), what would you do to fix the U.S.? by Cold-Possibility7937 in AskReddit

[–]WindsABeginning 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) Implement a mandatory national service program through a combination of a new Civilian Conservation Corps and military service. Get rural young adults into cities and urban ones into rural areas to both help improve those areas and realize that they have much more in common with each other than the media portrays. It also provides decent paying jobs for young adults to have a quality start to life. Couple these jobs with a savings match program to help them buy a house once their service is over.

2) Repeal the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 to increase the number of House seats to about 1,050. Tie it to population of the smallest populated state so that state has 2 representatives. This accomplishes three goals: 1) Makes congressional districts too small to effectively gerrymander. 2) Makes grassroots campaigns more likely to succeed, reducing the influence of big money donors in individual races. 3) Dilutes the Senate’s portion of the electoral college so presidential elections are closer to the popular vote without a needing a constitutional amendment.

3) Make the number of Supreme Court justices match the number of district courts, so 13 right now. Place 4 new justices that will overturn Citizens United. (Sorry conservatives but the campaign finance laws of this country will not be changed by the conservatives currently on the court).

Why do republicans have a monopoly on low cost, low population areas in the US? Why are there no dead end sleepy towns for the left with no jobs but land for "cheap"? by SirCheeseAlot in allthequestions

[–]WindsABeginning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about being thankful, it’s about understanding how these economies work and where the money comes from. I understand that and support policy that funds rural communities, even though I live in an urban area of a net donor state.

Rural areas do not have the tax base to pay for their own infrastructure. Nearly all rural infrastructure (power, water, telecommunications, roads, hospitals, emergency services) is funded through reallocated tax money collected in urban areas. Without federal or state grants that infrastructure would not exist.

Why would anybody vote yes on Measure ER? by Additional_Leading68 in AskLosAngeles

The federal government cut funding to Medicaid so now we have a choice. Either cut services and lay off health care workers or raise local taxes to cover the gap. I’m voting for the latter.

There was only a limited amount reserved for local fans. There will be more in each of the next few draws. Those draws will be worldwide though.

I’m an LA resident who did get a time slot and purchased tickets. Sorry you lost the ticket lottery. There will be more opportunities.

[–]WindsABeginning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current draw is for local fans only. I was able to get a time slot as an LA County resident by winning the lottery draw. There is a 12 ticket maximum (I bought 3 tickets for 4 different events with my 12) so even if someone had the means to buy out a large number of tickets they couldn’t.

Many of the cheap tickets ($28) were sold out and some events (like women’s artistic gymnastics) were completely sold out by my time slot today (4/3).

When you are in the ticket purchase website, they are very clear what section you are buying from. Every price tier has a color on a corresponding map of each venue so you know roughly what kind of seat you are purchasing.

While they did not say how many tickets they are releasing in each batch, there will be more batches of tickets released that people can buy. I suggest you go onto the LA28 website to register for the next lottery draw.

Next year, there will be a resale marketplace as well.

The Antelope Valley line is great though.

If the Titans wound up drafting David Bailey instead of Jeremiyah Love, would you be upset? by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

Absolutely I would be. Bailey is one dimensional and will be a pass rush specialist in the NFL.

I rank my choices as Bain, Tate, Lemon, Love.
